Boy…. I hate to see this happening to the B1G. Their own greed now haunting them. What a shame.
The sticking point from what I have heard isn’t solved by adding schools is that the networks want the top teams playing in those prime time spots and those teams (mainly Michigan) do not want that.Trouble in B1G land?
Crazy to think the Big10 deal takes effect in 40 days and they are still hammering out details.
Easy work around on the November night games is to add Oregon/Washington. My guess is west coast teams don't have an issue playing November prime time national TV games. But if the contract is in such chaos and schools are set to lose $5M annually from the originally announced $62.5M figure, does that delay adding Oregon/Washington until 2031?
Heck, maybe Big10 should add Colorado. Marketing GOLD- Prime in Primetime!! I am sure Deon will gladly do the promos.
I still laugh that they have maintained their JV and Varsity divisions (west and east). How a Michigan or Penn St has not kicked in the door of the commissioner on that is beyond me. There are many years the 3rd best team in East could have been the west champion. It hurts the product in my opinion.Boy…. I hate to see this happening to the B1G. Their own greed now haunting them. That’s already going away in 2024. It had been talked about for the past couple years anyways by the East teams.I still laugh that they have maintained their JV and Varsity divisions (west and east). What exactly is their reason for not wanting to play November night games? All the article referenced was health, recovery, and campus logisticsThe sticking point from what I have heard isn’t solved by adding schools is that the networks want the top teams playing in those prime time spots and those teams (mainly Michigan) do not want that.
I can only speak to the Michigan side of things but it largely has to do with tradition. Michigan didn’t even have permanent lights in the stadium until 2011 (which insanely enough espn paid for) and it’s because Bo hated night games. Now personally I want to see the school distance themselves from Bo as much as possible and there have been like a dozen home night games since then but the weather is a major factor in November. It can get stupid cold, as you all know, at night which has a huge effect on the game. For teams that want to win a championship I get not wanting the extra variable and if one of those games was streaming I would also understand hating it.What exactly is their reason for not wanting to play November night games? Son. Dude should never have been hired but because of harbaugh the school won’t distance themself from Bo. One of the only things that I hate about harbaugh is his undying devotion towards Bo.Meh they would get used to it. They are kind of fun in their own way. So how was that schemy dude related to Bo son or grandson?
Not surprising info for those in this thread… the “completely out” part is interesting to me.

Waiting for Altimore to weigh in on how Arizona State opening a satellite building in LA signals a major PAC TV deal is imminent.McMurphy: ESPN/PAC aren’t talking
Dellwnger: A PAC intern was on the phone with ESPN trying to unlock their + account for two hours yesterday so McMurphy is wrong

My guess is this is all down to semantics.
Neither party has essentially said we are out or don't want to work with you, period.
More that the offer on the table from either side is currently not acceptable and their is currently no avenue to get a deal that both sides accept.
The sides are technically still talking, but those talks are currently at a dead end.

Probably high as they can just wash their hands of the PAC10 if the corner schools go to the Big 12 and get their programming at a lower rate.So if ESPN's interest level in the Pac is this low, how interested are they paying up for these schools as part of the B12?
