So if ESPN's interest level in the Pac is this low, how interested are they paying up for these schools as part of the B12?

Think there’s already something in the contract that would allow adding a certain level of school to keep the deal the same.

That's the hard question. Probably not much, but the question is probably do they want 2-4 more games of inventory that could cover a late night spot? Then maybe enough interest for the Big 12 to expand and current schools stay around the same revenue-wise.

I don't buy the idea that the current Big 12 schools are going to make more money through an expansion that involves the four corners schools. I'd look at it more as a move to lock down some geographical regions/major metros to try to be better positioned for inclusion in future playoff/power conference breakoffs if they were to happen.

My opinion is the first task for Yormark was to secure a TV deal that keeps you in the game. He's done that. The second task is to start building a conference that has enough popularity and owns enough regions that it would be a deterrent to the Big 10 and SEC breaking away and leaving you out of their league. If you add all four corners schools, then at least the league owns Arizona, CO, Utah and KS, plus has a substantial presence in TX and OK. Not a failsafe by any means, but I'd like the Big 12's odds of staying in the highest level if it owned those regions rather than say if the SEC/Big 10 grabbed Utah, AZ, CO, UW and Oregon.

Our deal is just an extension of the old deal. It’s already signed. We wouldn’t know that until the contract comes up again.

I think your right. It isn't that the amount increases, its just that ESPN will add to the total value equal to what the payout is per a school.

It might be that they want a few games of the Pac 12, but not many. Or that Fox is interested in a larger Big 12.

Waiting for Altimore to weigh in on how Arizona State opening a satellite building in LA signals a major PAC TV deal is imminent.
That Altimore guy might be the biggest tool (which is saying something) out of all those west coast reporters. Blocks people who disagree, and is so smug while trying to feign niceness. Not going to lie, I want the Pac 10 to fall apart specifically so he can be wrong.

Not exactly sure.
Hadn't seen this yet:

Article quietly points out something. They talk about OSU and Penn state making concessions on games, but not Michigan state who plays in both of them. Big ten is considered 3 teams. The rest are scrubs.

I could live with some smugness if he wasn't saying the dumbest possible things at every turn.

My favorite still was his argument that Rutgers has a lot of value to the Big 10 because the other universities have donors in New York City. Are F'ing kidding me? To think for a split second that Ohio State or Northwestern are going to have the strategy of hitting up a big-time NYC donor by meeting up in Piscataway?

Or that Arizona State probably isn't going to the Big 12 because they opened a satellite location in LA. Yes, the fact that ASU opened up a satellite institute for Design and the Arts in LA, which no longer has a PAC team, is somehow dependent on having an athletic conference with California teams.

You can't make this dumb **** up. The only explanation is that he's basically the debate team that draws the absolute garbage position and has to find a way to make a case for it, no matter how horrible and hopeless it is. He can't be this dumb.

Did you read the article?

“While this is being worked through, Ohio State, Penn State and Michigan State recently agreed to concessions to make short-term sacrifices to help the league make up for some lost revenue from the NBC deal.”

I wouldn't say can't there are some special people out there. My favorite part is his profile pic that looks like it's him 20 years ago. He's an easy punching bag.

Yep, read it. Read this quote. What the industry thinks. The whole paragraph for you.

This is what he's walking into right now," another industry source said of Petitti. "Tony is trying to save it, and what Penn State and Ohio State are doing is actually trying to minimize the losses."

Is it just me or does chart boy Altimore have serious Vizzini vibes from the Princess Bride? I swear he is just desperately trying to convince us all via twitter that he is an iocane powder dealing criminal mastermind employed by Prince Humperdinck aka George Kliavkoff.

A lot of value in knowing your worth. Plenty of faults around ISU fans, but being largely self-aware of who we are in the grand scheme of things is not one of our primary flaws.

Correct. Getting all bent out of shape and crazy about certain events, even with this self-awareness, is the flaw.
