Watching that video of Matt Thomas, I'm really impressed with how well he sets his feet before taking a shot. His mid-range jumper will make him incredibly difficult to guard.

I'd say. He's going to be the guy who is hated by every other school, and I can't wait. Very similar to Jake Sullivan in that highlight, except MT is 3 inches taller.

Who is it that has the gif of Jake's pull up 3 from just beyond half court against Kansas?

A JJ Redick sans bacne.

Wow. No Minnesota, and no Wisconsin. Not so long ago, some analyst quoted him as saying Wisco would be in his top 5 or something to that effect.

The 4 schools cut from his list were Illinois, Notre Dame, Minnesota and Wisconsin. I know both Minnesota and Wisconsin fans cannot be happy about this, as both were pretty high on him over the summer.

His profile is updated w/ the latest: Recruit Lists » Washington, Kyle

This also could be bad news. This shows that playing close to home isn't overly important to him. 5 of his 7 top schools aren't very close to Minnesota. I think if he decides in the end that playing close to home is important to him then he will pick us.

Playing close to home wouldn't be the only thing ISU has to offer. I don't see is as a bad thing Minnesota and Wisconsin were eliminated. He just knows the Clones are a good option regardless of location

I very rarely believe the close to home bit, yes a lot of them believe it would be nice, but if a recruit thinks a school away from home is better they will go with that school. In other words, I never thought playing close to home was a deciding factor in Washington's recruitment.

Yeah the players that play at a prep school it seems to be less of a deciding factor since they are already used to being away from home. Players that don't play at prep schools though i think a good amount of them like to pick a school close to home if there is a good team in a major conference that's offering them.

I disagree. I think being close to home can be a factor and will certainly give us one more feather in our cap. There might be totally valid reasons why he has eliminated Minny and Wiscy despite their proximity, but that doesn't preclude him from putting some weight behind distance.

Having your friends and family being within driving distance to come to several games per year or being able to run back home for a weekend, might be something looked at positively.

Also, him going to the east coast for prep school could give him some things to think about in regards to where he wants to spend the next 3-4 years of his life.

Ultimately, this move tells me we're looking good because he would rather keep Minny in the fold as a token local school, but has no reason to do that with us. So it's unlike say Harrison Barnes, who was only considering ISU because of distance, but in KW's case, ISU is a true player.

Yep you nailed it. Matt Thomas is a prime example.

I would love a class of MT, MM, Washington, Hogue and either Martin or one of the Juco bigs. I would assume that would be one of the top 5 classes ever at ISU.
