Half way thru the 2nd qtr, St. B's is frustrating to watch- too much talent, yet on offense, it's one guy dribble around, possibly to the hoop, and jack up a bad shot. Outside of one pass for a slam from Ennis, the perimeter players haven't gotten Watkins involved much - even when open and a play to the hoop. It's mostly been the Ennis/ Briscoe/ Melvin Johnson show. Briscoe, btw is really impressive, and only a freshman.

Ennis cannot be stopped when he wants to go to the hoop. Tight handle, quick first step. He is not the facilitator - at least so far in this game - that I would want my PG to be when surrounded by the talent on St. B's.

Watkins is a big kid - pretty well built for a HS jr. Broad shoulders - he could be big. He runs the floor really well - especially in hustle situations, which is good to see. So far, he's played a bit weak in the post - morso on defense. He's pretty much the biggest kid out there - you would expect him to be more physical based on his appearance. Most of his offense comes from the offensive glass (for reasons stated earlier). He has pursued those opportunities pretty aggressively.

Both of these guys aren't too interested in us so don't get your panties in a bunch

You really have no idea what you are talking about in basketball. BTW packthejack23 said stupid stuff like this during football recruiting. Acting like he knew something. Then the total opposite happened. You any relation?

40 - 32 Blanche Ely (Florida) over St. Benedict's (NJ) at the half. Ely built a big lead early in the 2nd half, and StB's was able to trim it down a bit just before the half thanks in part to SOME defense and Ennis-to-Watkins starting to flow on offense.

StB's within 4 early in the 3rd qtr. offensive rebounds by Watkins is a big part. They've also switched up the D from zone to man, which ironically was what they were playing early when they let Ely get a big lead.

One thing I'm noticing from Watkins is he maybe doesn't play with the strongest hands - he also bobbles the catch some times. I think we know some players who do that... But, he's also made a couple nice passes to set up teammates.

St.B's wins 67-61. Watkins finished with 14 pts, 13 rebs, a couple steals, and probably at least one assist.

Final Summary on Watkins:
- His team does not (at least not tonight) get him involved on the offense - which is dominated by the super-talented guards in Briscoe, Ennis, and Johnson. Most of his 14 pts came from offensive putbacks, free throws and probably two baskets came a drive and rare dish from a guard. I would say that maybe this is the limit of his game, but I know that is not true - he's supposedly a good shooter, who can step out and hit the 3. He did have a 15' baseline jumper nullified on an offensive foul by Briscoe.

- Watkins pursues the ball pretty relentlessly on the offensive glass. He bounces well, but isn't real bouncy if that makes any sense. What I mean is I didn't detect a big vertical.

- He is a big kid. The announcers used the term "college-ready body" and I can say it fits. At 6'-8" + his build, he was the biggest guy on the floor. He didn't however play that physical or get position on his man consistently despite being bigger. His rebounds therefore were a matter of continuously bouncing and tipping. He got the ball knocked away from him on rebounds probably a handful of times and still managed 13 rebs, so that tells you how many balls he got his hands on.

- He runs the floor VERY well, even in an up-tempo game. Of all the players, I would say he hustled as much if not more than anybody else.

Tyler Ennis told Josh Paunil (Recruiting Spotlight) that Arizona & Syracuse are in the lead as far as his recruitment goes (those are the two places he has visited thus far). He has not officially made a list and ruled teams out, however the likelihood for Iowa State is fairly close to zero for what its' worth.

Isaiah Watkins has over 40 D1 offers and will likely gather up a few more before his recruitment is complete, he also has not made any indications as far as favorites go or eliminating anyone. At this point he is fairly wide open, however Iowa State has not been mentioned as actively recruiting him in some time.

Just a quick summary for those interested... By the way, great write-up on the game madcityCy!

2014 Chris McCullough listed Syracuse, St. John's, Arizona, UConn, Florida, Iowa State, Seton Hall, Rutgers, Providence & more per Coast2CoastHoops.

2013 Terrence Samuel is now receiving interest from Creighton and Dayton; he has also indicated to the NY Post that he plans to visit VCU soon and may make a decision after the AAU season. Also, brief correction to one of my tweets, the New Rens (NY) is his AAU team.

Lastly, we have a new offer to put on the board, 2013 G Carlos Galan of Gompers HS in Bronx, NY. Galan will attend a prep school for his final year of high school and currently holds offers from Iowa State and St. John's. I will have a profile for Galan sometime this week...

Yesterday, 2013 SG/ SF Steven Haney said he was going to take some visits in May and June. He did not mention anyone specifically.

Also, According to the Pawtucket Times, Monroe CC PF Orlando Sanchez is down to Providence, St. Johns, and Auburn.

That's good to hear about MCullough, I thought he wasn't interested in us anymore.

You won't likely hear much on Haney for at least a few weeks as I believe I saw he was headed overseas for a while (Germany IIRC). Iowa State has stayed persistent as a team that was recruiting him, so I wouldn't rule out him at all.

I would believe that Sanchez is no longer an option given we never offered from I have heard and it is obviously coming down to the time where he would want to make a decision. So he may be one to cross off the list here soon...

Germany is correct.
