Here nor there
Not sure what you mean by that nonsense.

Ideally, he will primarily be a wing player at ISU with his length, outside shooting ability and ability to dribble drive. He will likely compete with Nader for the 3 spot in 15-16 and possibly swing over to the 4 at times to back up Niang and/or McKay. After Niang/McKay are gone, then the need for him may be at the 4 but the 3 will likely remain his best spot.
It means we like posts that can play on the wing and away from the paint, but they are still our posts. We have not yet seen if Nadar can play wing in the Big 12, and Williams is even less of a wing. Now, playing out there as a post, he should help clear the lane for Georges to work, as Ejim did this year.

Remind me of the timing, but was Bluford signed before Kane signed? Naz had not lit it up as a freshman, Thomas was coming in but unproven, and we had just lost several three point scorers. My point is at the time Fred needed to make sure he had shooters on the team.

Yes. When Bluford signed all we had were true freshman (Morris, Thomas), a RS Fr (SDW), and a little used soph (Naz). That's why it wasn't a bad sign or anything; without Kane if things hadn't panned out with the youngin's it was smart to have another possibility.

I still would like to hear a reason why Amardi was cut loose over Bluford.

Wasn't it a matter of who was on campus already?

That's what I'd heard; Amardi was the only one not on campus yet or something to that effect. All else being equal, I doubt the coaching staff would have picked Bluford over Amardi with Kane signing on.

Amardi would have been valuable when Georges broke his foot. Of course the Bubu scholly problem would not havce occurred if someone had not waited an extra week to move on his student policy...so did he let Bubu keep his scholly because Mom agreed to this approach?:v_SPIN:

I thought he was #41 but that must have been a non final ranking.

Either way, our "lack of success" or "failure" recruiting high school kids has been greatly exaggerated.

Not specifically by Dingus but just in general.

54 vs 50 is obviously pretty much the same thing.

It's not a question of failure or anything. But I don't see how you can argue that we've been as successful in convincing highy sought after HS kids to choose ISU as we have with top transfers and JUCOs.

Royce was a former 5* being recruited by UK; McKay was a top 10 JUCO who quickly transferred here. BDJ had to have been one of the top 10 sought after transfers, as I assume Kane was. Our excellent HS players have been guys that developed to a great degree (Ejim) or were under-ranked, and therefore under recruited coming out of HS (Niang, Morris, etc.) compared to what they clearly should have been.

I have to assume it's just a small sample size issue that will disappear in the next few years, but it just seems odd to me.

Not as successful as something extremely successful can still be really, really good.

I think a lot of it is because we whiffed on almost all of our top 2014 high profile recruits. Custer being the exception. It does seem like high school recruiting is the one "world" Fred has yet to conquer. I realize that I'm saying that while Niang and Morris are on the roster and both of them turned out to be HUGE gets.
I'm not worried, just opining because I'm bored. I think how we do with our 2015 prospects will illuminate how successful, or not successful, we are going to be with top level high school recruiting.

I'm an Edozie fan and love his back story. But, I don't know how Armadi gets cut before Edozie. Especially since Armadi was a IHCC guy.

Vaguely seem to remember that Edozie was already in Ames and attending school. Armadi was not.

Oh, for sure. I'm not trying to complain about the players we bring in.

Not to beat a dead horse, but I guess my quesion can be put most succinctly as:

When we are going after a top tier transfer or JUCO, how confident are you that he ends up at ISU?
Now, when we are going after a top tier HS kid, how confident are you that he ends up a Cyclone?

It's the difference between those that I find perplexing.
