Assuming we miss on Ellenson and Diallo, I'd guess that we land Dime next year and then make a transfer that has to sit out 2015-16 our top "transfer" priority next spring.

If we miss on that, we may have to roll the dice with a grad transfer the following season when we would become very attractive with losing McKay, Niang and Nader.

Lets not pretend Fred has signed someone before because he was desperate. KJ Bluford was not good enough to play here.

I don't see anything desperate.

I'm fine with the results and going into year 5 we're working on becoming a sustained power.

If you think Bluford was signed out of desperation you're beyond help. Please tell me that I misunderstood you.

He was good except he was a ball hog.

Not trying to rag on the guy, but I certainly never saw anything to support that. The good part, not the ball hog part. That was pretty apparent.

IMO Bluford was signed simply as insurance.

Every staff misses on recruits. Right down to coach k and calipari.
I think Fred hits and then takes calculated risks he isn't afraid to miss on (you can't have 13 guys play). If he feels good about 7 or 8 guys why not take some flyers on guys that can add something like edge or tweek their **** like Bluford and be good. I think Fred was attracted to his confidence. Think how good Thomas would be if he had Bluford confidence. I think the greek is someone he believes can play but the risk lies in that he has never seen him play or react to situations. Fact is we have no idea his ceiling or where he really is now.

Have you seen him play? He may play on the wing, but he is not a wing. Imo think Ejim with more length.

Not sure what you mean by that nonsense.

Ideally, he will primarily be a wing player at ISU with his length, outside shooting ability and ability to dribble drive. He will likely compete with Nader for the 3 spot in 15-16 and possibly swing over to the 4 at times to back up Niang and/or McKay. After Niang/McKay are gone, then the need for him may be at the 4 but the 3 will likely remain his best spot.

Ehh that's not the kind of player you sign if you're truly desperate, KJ was a project, but there weren't many options left for that class so he signed a ball hogging three point shooter that didn't exactly shoot too well. That's what I mean when I say "desperate". There just wasn't anyone left; not because Fred needed a player on his team.

Remind me of the timing, but was Bluford signed before Kane signed? Naz had not lit it up as a freshman, Thomas was coming in but unproven, and we had just lost several three point scorers. My point is at the time Fred needed to make sure he had shooters on the team.

I still would like to hear a reason why Amardi was cut loose over Bluford.
