Agree. Iowa has really went away with the boring, slow offense that we were acustomed to. Coach Fran McCaffery really has done well there!
But our Cyclones are still a hell of a lot more entertaining to watch!

How about let's stop comparing and contrasting ISU vs Iowa playing styles in the Recruit Lists thread.

Iowa really doesn't play boring basketball IMO. They like to get up and down the court and get early shots, too. I don't think they pass it as well as ISU, but they're entertaining to watch.[/QUOTE
Every school says they play up tempo. And when everyone thinks non up tempo they think Wisconsin. Comparatively to actual up tempo schools Iowa is not up there like iowa state is. Name 5 non up tempo schools? They have to be good at basketball as well. TCU plays slow because they suck and they have to otherwise they'll get blown out of the gym.

Ken Pomeroy's site (kenpom.com) calculates adjusted tempo in possessions per game. Iowa and Iowa State are equal at 68.9, which is about 50th in the country. The top 30 teams are all slower than that, most of them dramatically slower. Florida, Louisville, Georgetown and Pittsburgh are 4 of the slowest paced teams in the country, all slower than Wisconsin.

I'm calling BS on this one based on the fact that we're 5th in the nation in scoring and we're somehow 50th in tempo? The amount of possession you average in a game depends on your opponents just as much as it does your team. If the team you play waits till the end of the shot clock on every possession it doesn't mean your playing slow.

And that's why I quoted Kenpom's adjusted tempo statistic, not raw possessions per game. Adjusted tempo takes you opponent's pace into account. In general, the fastest paced teams are not very efficient offensive teams. We score a lot because we combine the #10 offense with a fast pace.

I would think this is a huge recruiting night for ISU for all sports - any word on Football or Basketball visitors?

I have no idea who's visiting but a Monday night game is different than a weekend game when it comes to visitors, beyond local talent.

If people stop making incorrect statements about other teams' styles in this thread, I will agree to stay on subject.
