Yeah... nobody else in the conference probably even knows who this kid is, but now they will look into him. It's happened before to us. I just hope this kid keeps his word and stays with the Cyclones.

As for position... is Kamari strictly going to be a safety, or does anyone think he might be able to grow into a LB? He played LB in high school, correct?

He is listed as 5'10, that would be a really small linebacker.

Heard this multiple times, so if he is rusty it makes perfect sense to RS him this year since we are in decent shape at safety.

I don't know that Mutcherson even has a RS available. That said, I thought that Durrell Givens played really well this spring. Mutcherson would have to really light it up to beat him out. I'd be fine with Mutch getting a season to round into shape and then start for 3 years. That would mean he's holding off the younger Knott though.

Back on the Mutcherson thing, I believe he's 4 to play 4, so a redshirt would be useless.

Thats what I was thinking. But its not the ranking that matters it is the offers list....

Now you're starting to wise up.

A Paul Rhoad's offer means a lot more then some ranking from a self-anointed expert that lives in his mothers basement reviewing highlight tapes and assign arbitrary rankings to thousands of prospects.

I hate those guys. Do they even recruit any of their own players or do they just circle like vultures and pick off other teams commits?

Must have a great recruiting line?

"Oh, you're excited about going to Iowa State? You know what's even better than going to Iowa State and playing there? Getting crushed by Iowa State! Son, you come here, they will beat you down year after year. What do you say?"

In what way exactly. Because there wasn't a Rivals profile? Because you personally hadn't heard of his name before?

No it doesn't. Looks like a hell of a player. Whose opinion you going to take, CPR or Rivals? I hate it when people put ISU recruits down. How rude and unfair.

I'm not saying he's not a good player, and I trust our coaches judgement. I'm just saying that if we were being really picky with our offers, we could probably have waited until he showed something in the fall.

Or the coaches thought he was so good that they wanted to get him on their ship before he showed something this fall

I think that is the case. They see a guy they think they can win with and they offer him. Those were a couple of dumb inflammatory posts by me.

They wait for us to start recruiting the players so that they can see if they have talent and when we offer everyone offers.

I wouldn't have said it if it wasn't so. You might also have noticed that I was quoting what CPR had said during the Spring, not what I thought.

You believe mistakenly. Am I the only person who pays attention to the recruiting videos, and coaches comments on Signing Day?

Exactly.

His hudl bio lists him as 5'10 90, as I recall, with a 4.57 40. Now, if we get the kid from Minnesota, we'll have a nice pair of safeties. If we get Redfield, we'll have a nice trio of safeties.

He does not have 5 to play four.

One could make a comparison between Kamari Syrie and Lavonte David. They are/were about the same size (and speed) as juniors. Went back and watched Lavonte's high school video. These two are somewhat playing with a similar style (attack mode all the time). As best I could find, Middle Tennessee was the only college to offer Lavonte David (obviously too small to play LB in major college football). Instead went the JC route and then to Nebraska. Hope Kamari turns out to have a similar college career...........

I was mistaken, Mutcherson is 4 to play 3.

"I have talked to the NCAA clearinghouse and they said I have three years of eligibility left plus I could take a redshirt year," said Mutcherson. "I haven't been in school and I just kept studying for the test and taking it."
