Haven't read the thread, so not sure on the temperature, but I would be really happy if NN decided Iowa State was were he wanted to be. Kid can ball.

Seems like a solid replacement for Custer, plus he is two years behind MM which makes playing time less of an issue.

I wouldn't be totally shocked if he took a redshirt just to acclimate. I would highly doubt it, but it wouldn't surprise me if they felt it was in his best interest. On the flip side, if he needs to feel like he can contribute in some way, he's also able to come off the bench at times based on his skillset. With MM most likely gone after next year, NN is a perfect guy to step in and replace him as a true PG.

If I had the choice between Clayton Custer or NN I'd choose Custer all day. Sucks he couldn't get any meaningful minutes last year.

So...start recruiting a PG with initials OO now for after that?

Since he technically signed with Marquette I'm going to consider him a transfer......so he's basically ours.

And you know this because you've seen both of them play against the best competition numerous times? Clayton could very well end up being the better player, but there really isn't much to go on for either of them right now other than a recruiting page (both similarly ranked out of HS). If the staff thinks he is good enough to offer a scholarship, then I'll be very happy if we get NN

I can see the positives in both scenarios. Red shirting would allow him to get used to college life. Then again, depending on how good he is and how much playing time he can get, not red shirting could give him valuable experience to take over PG duties if Monte leaves early.

Minutes may be limited for Nick next year, but I think the experience of playing is a must in case Monte leaves after next year. Custer's issue was that he was looking at three years of limited minutes if Monte stayed all four. That may not happen, but it is still possible. Worst case Nick is looking at two years of limited minutes and if he proves he is good enough, he can take over the starting PG position at ISU.

Since he is a bit bigger NN could likely play off the ball as well.
