Disagree re bowie not panning out. Not sure we win Big XII tourney or vs Nevada without him.

My apologies. I didn't mean to imply Bowie didn't pan out. I was more focused on Malou not coming and Lard being delayed. Both were risky recruits and only one panned out, though too late to make a difference last year. Bowie was serviceable once Young broke out - he just wasn't suited for the 5 spot.

Which is a major, major miss by he staff, and very disappointing if that's the case. There is no reason next year should be a "rebuilding" year. If it is, it's because the staff failed at filling the class appropriately. And yes that does take into account we have 3 very good freshman in the fold already.

The staff did everything they could to get this kid. Yes is sucks they lost out on him, but they were the first in on him and one of the last out, so they did something right. In the end UNLV offered something ISU couldn't, in his mind anyway.

Exactly. At least they are willing to strike out of fantastic players rather than settling for guys we know we can get. We aren't going to get every player we want and who is to say a guy we pick up this month doesn't end up being better than Juiston. Just relax...

Agree. At least we're getting visits from players other top programs are also recruiting. Haven't looked at past recruits on campus and the types of offers they had, but the ones we've gotten on campus appear to have offers from top programs. The Prohm critics don't have a single thing the staff could have done differently to land the players. Having grown up in Ames, I see the many positives the city offers, but it's not everyone's cup of tea, particularly for players who're used to bigger cities which have more to offer. Then there's the brutal winters in Iowa.

Ames is Ames. For some kids Ames is good to get away from a bad situation and be in a good place and a good school. Other places off more of a night life if that is what you are after, but also could lead to more problems. I enjoy Vegas wish I could get there a few times a year, but to live there would be a different story.

If it's night life they want, just take them to Sips or AJs at 1am. :D

Nit picking class balance after a coaching change is pretty ridiculous, especially given the fact that Prohm inherited such a good team. For most coaching changes, the new guy inherits a roster with little talent or a program that is a total mess or has just bottomed out.

But I also disagree with the other poster that next year can't be a rebuilding year. Every program has them. We are overdue for one.

Why wouldn't you look into what was left over when the dude was asking about rebuilding years? No one is even talking about what Fred left for Prohm....

He's visiting Pitt this weekend probably wants to see what is going on.

I'm at the point if it is a transfer and they hasen't had contact with St. John's/Matt A. I would be concerned. ;)
St. John's is very close to be out on one of their top post target announcing this week (favorite is Georgia). If the writing is on the wall MA probably reached out.

Absolutely right. Even Juiston's coach praised how hard and well ISU recruited Juiston and that it meant a lot to him. To think Juiston going to UNLV was because the staff did something wrong or didn't do enough is moronic, IMHO.

Agree, and that type of thing can pay dividends long term too, as juco and high school coaches bring up other players. Always good to have the coach on your side.

If that's what it takes to land a juco who can't shoot, please, pretty please, with sugar on top, run to vegas and lose big.

We didn't have a booster lined up to pay the AAU handlers. That is on Prohm.
