Blue Star has Jadda Buckley at #80 and Rebekah Dahlman at #33. Didn't Jadda outshine her the last time the two met? I'm not sure I put too much faith in these services. I have seen girls play this summer that are being heavily recruited by top schools, yet they aren't showing up on the list. Blue Star and others CAN'T watch everyone so they rely on AAU programs to promote their players...or only show the top players on the top teams that they do watch regularly. Or worse, they look at bloated high school numbers from girls who regularly play teams with NO college talent.

I had heard that we were not recruiting her any longer. I saw her play this summer and she was VERY VERY limited offensively and her lack of strength would have been a major issue in the Big 12.

Bill really needs a ready-to-play 2013 post recruit for the 2013-14 season. It is questionable if Baier (2012 recruit) will be ready for 13-14 and rather doubtful that Trapp would have been. Taylor Robinson appears to be the type of post prospect that could immediately contribute. If Bill can sign her, I think he is better off with her than Trapp.

Agree on Robinson being a Big 12 type body, but her conditioning appears to not be the best. Frankly, I think we are in a world of hurt after this season at the post, because it is much harder for frosh posts to make an impact. Pop and Anna were exceptions.

Blue Star is fairly reputable, and up or down in the rankings, doesn't change the fact that Trapp has huge potential, and we have plenty of schollies.

And Hallie. We had no returning posts when Pop and Anna came in, so they pretty much had to make an impact. Fortunately, they were up to it. Hallie came in to a somewhat crowded post rotation and forced herself in, which might be even more impressive.

Next season, we have Hallie, Ellis, Baier, Jensen in the post (plus whomever else we get for 2013). We all know Hallie is good. I think Ellis is capable of being a solid contributor at 4 (I think I'm higher on her than some other people are). Jensen sounds like she could jump in and contribute right away if she's fully recovered. Baier is the big question mark, but at least we'll get a chance to see what she can do this season, although her PT will be limited this season while Pop and Prins are still around.

And worst case, we'll have enough backcourt talent to run 4 guards out there at times if we have to. We do not, however, have the backcourt depth to do that a lot. Crossing fingers for Dahlman.

I had high hopes for Kileah, which I think hurt us at the 5 in her leaving. She was a project, but had the body and athleticism, but was clear she didn't want to be here. Also, losing out on Stacey Malone to KSU pinged us too, though she probably projected more of a 4.

With Hallie as a senior, think what we need most out of the 5 position will be solid defense first, so maybe Baier can provide that.

I think Ellis has a lot to contribute as well.

I have a feeling Fallon will contribute this year (and carry that over to the next two seasons). Before she got sick last year, the few minutes she was on the floor were quite productive. She moved her feet well and seemed to be able to find the ball when it didn't come right to her, something that has seemed to elude other post players at times. Guess I should say, "I want Fallon to contribute this year," since she will have to fight for playing time. It's not like she doesn't have the talent, but she needs to show it. I can see her being a Desiree Francis-type player in the long-term - good at playing inside and outside.

Women's Basketball: ISU a Finalist for Dahlman, Robinson

Iowa State women’s basketball remains in the recruiting mix for two of the Midwest’s top uncommitted senior players.

The high school coach of Rebekah Dahlman, the 16th-ranked prospect in the 2013 class by ESPN’s Hoop Gurlz, said official visits will play a major role in her decision, and the Cyclones are scheduled to receive one in late September.

...
As for frontcourt players, ISU is also a finalist for Taylor Robinson, a 6-foot-3 post out of Ladue Horton Watkins High in St. Louis. She visited Ames two weekends ago and enjoyed the trip, said Cord Dockery, her high school coach.

I agree. I liked what I saw of Ellis last year. Good feet, strong, has the right mentality, good body. I think she has a bright future. I personally thought of here as Pop Junior.

If Ellis can improve to be half as good as Francis then we are okay. Don't sell Madison short either. She already is better offensively than Pop was when she came is as a freshman. Maddie wants to be here and she is a legitimate 6-4 post player who has the body and ability to make big strides this year and next.

I can see her as a Danielle Adams, that rare combination of power and outside game. I hope she is working hard to become that potential all star. Unfortunately both our likely best inside players next season are prototypical 4s.

If she is truly 5-11 as listed, she is going to have a tough go of it in the B12 as a 4 unless she is really highly skilled and can really leap. Probably somewhat of a longshot at this point to be an impact contributor in the core rotation.

Her height is accurate and it is more than possible for her to have an impact. Does the name Toccara Ross ring a bell? She wasn't even that tall and was a force under the basket until her ACL injury.

Yep, Charles Barkley had the same problem, too bad he never really worked out... There should be a combined measurement of height and hips:spinny:

Desiree Francis was listed at 6-1 but was only about 5-10. However, she was freakishly athletic.

WNBA lists Danielle Adams as 6-1 too, but if she's an inch taller than Fallon I'd be surprised... Quickness, strength, intelligence and relentlessness are really what define a power forward.
