Refs?

Did anyone else think the refs let way too much contact go without a whistle. I'm not a guy that complains about refs every game, just thought last night was a terrible night for the refs. It wasn't one sided either. Both squads had to play through a lot of contact which might have favored us but I really think our guys were getting mugged on every single drive and rarely got a whistle.

I think calling a game loosely benefits us. There were definitely some fouls that went uncalled, but I'd rather see that than a free throw contest.

Sure the refs might have missed a couple calls on CU. Thought Jackson was fouled on his rebound & attempt to dribble up court. There were a few over-the-back calls felt they missed. And at end of game, still not convinced the out-of-bounds call should have been reversed. I thought the CU defender was on baseline when he touched the ball. But it could have been off Chatfield. I'm sure CU fans could point to a few calls that didn't go their way.

But in general, we definitely benefit if the refs don't call a tight game. We are physical and handsy on defense. I have always felt that Larry's teams, Huggins' teams, etc. got away with fouls because their approach raised the bar on what is a foul and got away with a handful of fouls each game. In todays game I would put Iowa State and Houston's defenses in the same realm.

In the Big 12 you just hope that you get three terrible reffing games to go our way to offset the three that won’t go our way. If we want to win the league we have to steal one or two of the terrible ref games. It’s the modified Tim Floyd point scale. +3 for stealing a ref hack job league game.

As long as they call the game consistently, I'm fine with the officiating. Teams can adjust to the officiating so long as the calls are consistent

Not exactly sure.
If they are consistent, that’s all I care and they consistently let major contact go. Gilbert on one drive bent down to clear while dribbling and a defender two hand shoved him to the floor. I thought it was a little loose but it was consistent.

One of the worst officiated games I've ever seen. As a player the inconsistency and wonder what's a foul from game to game or even within a game, must be maddening.
It wasn't close to the worst ever, not by miles and miles.

It was inconsistent though- seemed like a lot of contact was OK, but anything near a shooters arm around the rim was a foul.

I said one of, not the single worst ever.

I don't give a sh*t how many Finals Fours those guys have officiated, they did a terrible job last night and they should all retire if that's the quality of work they do.
Tony Padilla has been really bad this year when we’ve had him. As others said consistency is the key and I’m not sure how that was consistent. There were multiple times there was serious contact allowed with nothing called and then you would get a really iffy call on the other end.

As someone else mentioned the egregious overturning of the out of bounds was a big one. The Colorado player was out of bounds touching the ball so it doesn’t matter who the ball was actually off of.

There's a whole thread making fun of the hawk fanbase for whining about officiatiing in their bowl loss, then we get this when we win on the road in the big 12. What are we doing here guys
Don’t see more than people saying/questioning that it was called lighter than normal. No blaming or accusing them of anything. Even most people saying it helped us, so I guess I don’t understand your issue.

Agree...there were quite a few stretches of play where it seemed the refs weren't even watching! Way too physical at moments.
