Remind me, why did we not want Woodbury?

Kind of like Colison, Heinrich, LaFrentz, Barnes, and Paige? I'm sure Iowa fans will take that.
I am sorry, where did you come from? He is not half the talent of those other players listed. Collison, LaFrentz, and Barnes were top 10 talents, and Hinrich was vastly undervalued and dominant as a freshman at KU.

Woodbury reminds me of Loren Meyer. A good player sure, but I think Woodbury was a little overvalued based on potential. He was not that great last night, and was not the reason we lost. Gibson outplayed him most of the game.

We made our runs when Woodbury was out of the game. Percy and Niang were much more effective when Adam was on the pine
If he was so effective, why did he do so little work on teh boards or blocking shots? Seriously, Woodbury was not a difference maker last night.

He had a few nice shots, but come on. He was no where near the best player on the court. He was probably the 3rd best player for Iowa last night. Which makes him the 4th best player on the court overall. Unless you count KL for Iowa. Then Woodbury would have been the 5th best player on the court. KL had some sweet turnovers last night.

He's good in the same way the 7ft guy at UNI was good.

Size helps no matter what, but he is far from a diamond. He will be a very solid player for them though.

You are proving my point. The 4th best player on the court, and he's a freshman 7 footer! He will only get better each year! Imagine him with another 20 pounds of muscle, a few more offensive moves, and more polished. That's what you will see his junior year!

And go rematch the game. He certainly had a prescience about him on defense. While he didn't block shots or rebound, go ACTH how many times when he was in the game we even tried to go down low. Not everything can be measured in the stat book. Well, maybe you can. Anyone know the splits last night when Woodbury was in the game vs not? I'm going to guess its roughly +20 or more!

You're not understanding what I'm saying. He was 4th best player on the court last night because our guys didn't show up. If Clyburn, Ejim or McGee would have shown up, he would have been even further down the list. I'm not saying he won't be good eventually, but he's super raw right now.

I don't think Clemmons gets any recognition since he didn't get any of the hype coming out of high school that Gesell and Woodbury got, but right now he's their best freshman player.

based on last night, I'd agree. Which makes it even more scary, since those other freshman have quite a bit of potential! How does their coach find some of these kids? Year one it was Basabe (who is overhyped, but a solid player), last year was White (and we saw what he can do last night), and this year it looks like Clemmons will be a kid who plays way above his ranking. I don't believe any of those kids were a Top 150/200 player!

There are only so many roster openings to go around.

So you would rather have a guy like SDW who is redshirting or Okoro who hasn't shown any ability to be a B12 player than Woodbury? Fred would have taken Woodbury in a second if he had any interest and would have taken him over either of those two players and probably Naz as well.

anyone who didn't want Woodbury is a moron. Roy Williams doesn't fly to Iowa to go to Prarie Meadows.

Typical overreaction thread. Our team, which is better, or at least will be by the end of the year, doesn't show up for the game at CHA last night and some posters spend the rest of the evening asking why we didn't recruit their mediocre players that had better than usual evenings last night, especially when they had no interest in coming to ISU?

No wonder I avoided this site last night after the game - stupidity reigned the night.

A lot of these threads were the same exact ones that showed up after the Drake loss last year.

This is my only point. We can stop with the Cyclone butthurt. I get it. We all hate Iowa. But that doesn't mean all their players are garbage and they don't have some nice young guys to look forward to.

We didn't ever factor into Woodbury because he was a lifelong Hawk. It was either Iowa or a big name school.

Saying he sucks or wasn't a factor is just butthurt and not objective.

Woodbury

23 min
9 points
5 boards

Niang

33 min
13 points
5 boards

Clearly both were factors. Maybe the biggest thing that Woodbury did was go cause one of our senior starters to pick up 3 quick fouls in just 5 mins of game action.

Woodbury didn't kill us. Clemmons and White killed us. Not playing defense killed us. First we left the lane open for easy shots. Then, the outside was open and they were hitting. Turnovers... Woodbury took advantage of the situation. I won't say Woodbury won't be great, but he is far from their best player.
