The younger guys on the team will make big steps and make this team better, something last years team really didnt have. There is still time for Clyburn and Korie to get better.

korie is the same garbage player he was the 3 years he was at msu

id be shocked if he turned into an average pg at this point

We lost because of defensive rebounding. 15 offensive boards turned into how many uncontested layups?

What? We were 10-3 through December last year. Iowa was 9-6.

Thanks for the correction on Niang. Totally whiffed on it. That said, I don't think it changes the overall point. We are working a few new guys in just like anyone else--the differences is that outside of Niang our guys were in the program last year.

10-3 with no quality wins and losses to UNI, Drake, and Mich.

It's too bad the cyclone defenders weren't smart enough to stop his one move. The drop step hook shot. Incredibly frustrating to watch him do that whenever he got the ball last night and the defense refused to do anything about it.

Tell me, how does one defend a hook shot from a 7-footer?

Why do you think that shot is such a weapon for a kid at that height? It's practically impossible to defend. And Woodbury struggled with it early in the year, for whatever reason. It looked good in high school and in AAU, but he had trouble finding his touch early. The past week or so, he's been money with it.

ISU wasnt good last Dec either and made the 2nd round of the NCAA tourny. Yes most teams have younger guys playing with older guys, but the core of the team has played a lot of game mins together. For ISU this year 2 of the starters and a key roll player have never played a game together before the season started.
I guess I didnt realize Niang was on campus last year.
If you are going to try to use this lame excuse, you should probably wait to use it against a team that isn't starting 3 guys that were not on campus last year. Especially since the entire ISU starting 5 has been practicing together for over a year.

Last years team practiced together for a year and started slow. Games and practice are way different. Also the redshirts prob went against the starters last year in practice.

I'm not buying th excuse that for some reason out transfers need longer to gel than a much younger team like Iowa.

Our Senior leaders (and I'll throw Ejim in there too) have been sort of MIA against teams with a pulse

Kid was a top 50 recruit with offers to every single school not named Kansas and Duke. FH would have taken this kid in a heartbeat. Niang is a stud too, but stop embarrassing yourself. You make our fanbase look butt hurt and sad. Maybe sit the next couple of days on CF out, eh?[/QUOTE

That must be it.

Excuse me for not envying a rival school's recruits. I happen like the guys that chose to go to school here more.

Then admit you are being subjective and saying you don't like him b/c hes a hok. Not that "hes not any good".

You are proving my point. The 4th best player on the court, and he's a freshman 7 footer! He will only get better each year! Imagine him with another 20 pounds of muscle, a few more offensive moves, and more polished. That's what you will see his junior year!

And go rematch the game. He certainly had a prescience about him on defense. While he didn't block shots or rebound, go ACTH how many times when he was in the game we even tried to go down low. Not everything can be measured in the stat book. Well, maybe you can. Anyone know the splits last night when Woodbury was in the game vs not? I'm going to guess its roughly +20 or more!

This. Woody simply alters what the other team does...the Hawk D has a drop off when he's out. Been pretty apparent all year.

I'm very happy with his progress so far....

Let's recap: ISU plays like dog **** for one night on the road in front of a hostile crowd, it's leading scorer plays probably the worst college game of his career, and after all this ISU still only loses by nine. And suddenly Woodbury is the missing link? Take a deep breath people.

Even if Fred wanted him, I'm glad he didn't come here. There's no place in an up-tempo offense for a slow 7-footer that doesn't rebound all that well. He was okay last night, but im not wetting my pants over it.

I guess the reason you dont want Woodbury is because.....U-want to keep losing because our bigs cant guard a S**T

HOUSE...............We could sure use a seven foot Woodbury right about now...Its gonna be a LONG Season I cant wait to see if Drake High School Presses us come next sat afternoon....

What are you talking about? When has ISU been "garbage" in basketball in the last twenty years?

The mcdermott era. But during that time period its not like iowa was any better those years.

It was good to avoid this place this weekend.

Amazing that all of you actually fell for a ******* piece of **** hawk fan on here trying to justify his own existence.

Of course when you look at some of the "fans" that look to pile on, it would stand to reason they would, since they feel the same way.

All of the usual suspects showed up, the only one missing is tornado man ripping JP for firing his uncle dan

I'm a Hawk fan? Trying to justify my own existence? Looks like I've been on this site longer than you have. Although, I have a life so I don't live on these boards and post constantly. I will gladly put you down as just another idiot who thinks any sort of questions about one of our programs must mean one isn't a fan. Mikem, I'm going to guess you're what, maybe 16 years old? Go play kick ball with your friends, leave these discussions to the grown ups.
