I replaced two Pella Pro Line windows a few years back that were 16 yrs old. The Pro Line is not the top of the line window (just like one poster said, companies make different grades for the market) so when I looked I got three quotes. I went with the top of the line Pella window as they were less expensive (Anderson was the most expensive)than the other two quotes. I am very happy with the replacements.

This is true...pay close attention to the NFRC and SHGC values...they compare apples to apples on how efficient the windows are. Also, be cautious of those saying to go with to go with a carpenter. Windows are only as good as the installer. You wouldn't take your Porsche to Jiffy Lube.

Had Pella in my house in the first year I owned it telling them their windows were crap. They blamed the moisure penetration problems on everything but the windows. Low and behold, they now find themselves in a class action suit. Looks like I may have been right all this time.
Pella may have a better product now, but the bad taste in my mouth from them will likely never leave.
Not to mention they are Dutch. To quote Austin Powers father..."There's only two things I hate in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures and the Dutch".
Back in the mid 90"s they had moisture issues ,thus the lawsuit. That stinks they didn't"t take care of you- anyone I built a house for that had a problem, I called and Pella went out and handled it very well. Maybe you should join the lawsuit. Doesn't sound right by me either.

Holy crap man. That is super expensive for replacement windows. I'm doing a job for 19 windows and 3 exterior doors for about 13k right now. I would recommend getting another quote

Yeah, you can save a crap ton (riddle: how much crap does it take to weigh a ton?) by going with vinyl. But i say you get what you pay for. Anderson makes a very very good product.

Dave is a good guy and I like Renewal by Anderson, I wanted to replace a window and door last year but just couldn't afford it.

If yours were truly defective Pella has been very good over the years on trying to a degree to make up for that on replacing those. Have worked with Pella for 22years and they care about their product. Don't know if you reached out to them or not.

It was told that I had missed the ten year limit on that. Not sure if that is true, but I am not the original owner/builder of the home.

Looking at replacing all the windows in my house. Sick and tired of the BS Pella ProLine windows. Had Anderson Renewal from WDM in yesterday. Got their quote today. $35k for the whole house. About what I expected. Anyone use them before? Specifically the WDM location. Guy was super nice and an ISU grad to boot so that was a positive. Still alot of money to pull the trigger on though.

Andersen are great windows, but I understand 50% of a successful install IS the installers. How experienced are the installers? Most companies contract this out, and you need good ones obviously.

We have the middle tier Pella, and generally happy with them. I understand the low-end Pella at your box stores aren't very good.

So glad we got rid of those crappy construction grade vinyl crap. Our Pella sliding glass (and wood frame) door is 50x the quality of our original vinyl sliding glass...

That does suck-but Iowa law ,based on a ruling by the state supreme court a couple years ago, gives anyone the right within 15 years to take legal action on anything in that house that you think is defective, or just not properly done. Regardless if you are the 2nd or 3rd owner. Which, by the way, I don't think is right-but doesn't matter what my opinion is. FYI

had all of the doors and windows in my house done with Certainteed windows a year ago. Used a local contractor rather than the big names. Cost 2/3 your quote. I'd be checking with some quality contractors. And btw, most of my windows are custom jobs. The French door was a fresh install.
