Even if those schools are safe right now, in a few years they'll be told to kick rocks imo. The only way it keeps its cache as an NFL G-League is by going all in only blue-bloods and even then I doubt the long term stability when, as you said, most of the country won't care after a year or two.
Yeah, most of the country wouldn't care, then after a few years Georgia or Tennessee or Texas would just be a 10th or 14th place team.
64 team super league that goes coast to coast at least seems like a sustainable popular and awesome thing if not for squeezing out a handful of teams. (of which ISU would always be in the mix sadly)
20 team league mostly in the southeast, no thanks.
If then need a 32 team super conference so bad, why not do 64 with relegation? Let's be honest, ISU can compete with anybody now (finally) but there where decades where competing in the 64-33 range would have been much better than facing national champion caliber Nebraska and OU.
There's a way for the conferences to do this together that is better for everyone and maximizes the profits/audience.
