Well today did not end like I thought it was going to lol. S*** just hit the fan.

I'm in the 'maybe' on this until that sort of evidence gets somewhere or it all backtracks.

Probably overdoing it but I refuse to believe ESPN was that blatant and nobody knew or leaked it earlier, or that it will matter.

Lawsuit, counter suit, lengthy litigation, half-ass settlement, rinse and repeat.

I'm old and jaded

yeah and then the executives who made the calls or sent emails could be facing prison time if we can get the fbi involved, and they sing like canaries about the conversations they had with their bosses, one of these presidents has to have some contacts in dc and if they dont these senators from these states do

Cease and desist was for ESPN, but not Fox

Interesting Title: "How did the SEC not get any competition from the Big 10 for Texas and Oklahoma?" Herein lies the most logical reason. ESPN and their move to eliminate GOR debt is more maneuverable with the SEC and ACC because they're the longest term contracts. The iceberg is in sight.

I tend to agree. This helps us squeeze more money out of our remaining days in the conference, but it doesn't really change anything about the trajectory. It's legal leverage to get more cash, but not much beyond that.

well yeah of course this is about cash, even if the fbi was involved it would just be to apply pressure to settle out of court

Is the FBI involved? Did I miss something?

It should put brakes on ESPN’s plan for the American to absorb us along with erasing UT/OU’s liability. So that means more cash plus (hopefully) a better conference as well. We can still peel off the American’s best rather than vice versa - let alone land in the Pac-12.

Nobody was sniffing earlier. Jaded = motivation.

Yup. A little more money in the short term is the best we can hope for.

Companies get big enough and they start getting sloppy; think they’re untouchable.

My question is, would this prevent us from finding a different home? Like would the Pac12 be more hesitant to pull in teams now? Because, long term, that would probably be more damaging to us.

Negotiated a deal between the SEC and OU/UT for at least 6 months and no one knew anything about it until last Wednesday. Safe to say the ESPN does not have the remaining schools interests at heart.

I love that Bowlsby is doing this, but I hope he's shrewd enough to be thinking alternative broadcast partners...Apple, Amazon, Youtube, somebody; otherwise, the 8 of us are in massive trouble because we won't see ESPN money ever again.

Slightly disagree. This will draw things out, will possibly affect current TX/OK move, may set precedence on conference reorganization, and will definitely have a lot of people stopping dead in their tracks. This is very interesting stuff! Me glued!
Yeah this changes everything. So Fox, the B1G, Pac12, etc are now well aware of exactly what ESPN is trying to do. This could be larger than we even know honestly. This could cause a monumental shift in how TV and conferences are aligned.

who knows hopefully they get involved, we could round up least 6-8 senators and a 1/2 dozen congressman to help, not sure if there was something criminal or not
What's the crime though? Tortious Interference is not criminal. A company can be sued over it, but that's not the same thing. I wouldn't hold your breath on the FBI getting involved.

I get it, we all want our pound of flesh, but you're making this into something it's not.
