Let's ignore assists, because the more important thing is just that the ball doesn't get turned over when the PG has the ball, whether or not he makes a nice pass for an easy bucket.

TO Rate (turnovers per possession used):
Palo 2010-2011: 19.3
Palo 2011-2012: 25.2
Lucious 2012-2013: 31.0
Long 2012-2013: 44.3

Bonus note: Naz Long's minutes have come against crappy teams.

Edit: Almost the same story if you look at a TO per 40 min basis:
Palo 2010-2011: 2.04
Palo 2011-2012: 3.17
Lucious 2012-2013: 4.88
Long 2012-2013: 5.19

I'm cool with Bubu bringing the ball up.

44.3 turnovers per 1 possession is almost impossible! Oh wait it is

Add Texas Tech to the list of teams where Lucious played poor and we lost. Enter Bubu into the equation and it very easily again could have been a different outcome. Yes I know Bubu was able to play last night. I'm saying if Bubu would have been playing the whole year and been able to play last night with 17 games under his belt, then he might have made the game a different outcome. It was smart by Hoiberg not to play him last night for the first time all year in a close game. Last night showed how badly we need a backup PG.

Ironically, we're going to disagree differently. I think we should have snuck Bubu out there for a few minutes last night.

Sure, it was a close game, but he certainly wasn't going to hurt anything in that no-effort debacle. He really might have been the spark we needed.

Mark it down. The tables have turned or something.

I don't think a week or practice is enough to get back in shape, learn the new plays, and be ready to run a team in a close game. He needs to ease his way back into the lineup, not be forced into the lineup and be expected to perform at a high level right away.

Valid points, but nothing that necessarily means putting Bubu in for a few minutes last night would not be easing him in. On a few possession basis, basketball can be fairly simple. We need a shake-up. We lack fire- and not the raw-raw, "sweating" fire, but the quality of play kind. Consider me down for trying a few minutes of Bubu, a guy who is about the intangibles. Hell, try Ellerman if Booker and Gibson continue to play like softies.

Does this team have a leader?

The tech game was supposed to be the game that we win by 20 and that Bubu could slowly work into the lineup. To be honest I'm not sure now when he will work his way into the lineup. Our next 2 games I see being very close games. I think by the time we play Baylor and Oklahoma at home he will have had enough practice time to get in shape and learn the new plays. I also think/hope that these two games won't be 2-5 pt games but instead us leading by 8-12 the whole game. Those type of games are prime situations where Bubu can get in the game and get comfortable with this team. If we continue to have close games though I don't see Bubu getting many opportunities to work his way into the lineup.

I think that Lucious has the potential to lead the team overall. I see Clyburn as leading our team in ways such as being our go to guy at the end of games and taking the big shot for us. Both of them are so inconsistent though it's hard to say if we have a leader or not. Both of them have potential though.

You could also look at it the opposite way. The need to "work" Bubu back into the line-up is largely due to avoid having poor play, but if you are losing TT etc and your general concern about our poor play is true, you probably do not need to worry about such costs.

just wanted to bump this and give bubu a quick shout out. 11 minutes of solid defense and a rebound + assist. good to see him back on the court!
