This. Right here. I dont get what you people see in Bubu. Nice kid, glad his name was cleared. But this team is playing pretty well right now, and throwing someone out there, who quite frankly, doesnt belong in D-1 for anything other than some garbage minutes, is not a good idea. Hope I am wrong, will be the first to admit it if I am, but he is not a Big XII caliber player...

Are you kidding?

Have you watched him play defense? He has made big shots (both 3 pointers and free throws) to help us win games. He was very good against UConn and Kentucky.

Let's turn this around: why are there so many people who say he isn't good enough to play in the Big XII? I'm guessing it's because he walked-on.

On top of being a solid Big XII role-player, he's a good kid, great student, and he's from Ames. So, yeah, I'm going to cheer for him and I'm excited about his return to the team.

Edit: I see the rest of CF has taken appropriate action against this sentiment.

Stop making Bubu sound like a starter or all-Big 12. He is a solid Big XII role-player.

Humor aside, I agree. Players like Sledge, McKnight, and Railey leave, yet Fred is going to give someone willing to pay their own way a scholarship, even though he is not a Big 12 player? Yeah, sure.

I'm hoping this doesn't cut into time Naz would otherwise get for his future development, but will trust that CFH will play Bubu if he thinks it will help and sit him if he thinks it would hurt to play him. I'm guessing Texas Tech does not have enough people who know of his issues to make it a hostile environment (or enough fans at all if it is like the other non-Texas Texas schools), but I'm plenty glad we won't be going to Iowa City again with Bubu.

Bubu is a better player than Naz right now. Better Defense, draws fouls, more experience, and a better ball handler. Plus we'll need Bubu for the first half of the season next year. Give him the experience. I dont think Naz will be ready to start next year. In fact, with the recruits we have coming in, I don't see Naz starting ever. I love Naz, and I love his aggressive play, but I just don't think the talent is up to par with Bubu, Morris, and Custer.

I agree that Naz probably won't ever start, but if he plays good defense, he can be a very valuable role player

Our team is playing well right now yes. Granted we haven't beaten a good team and have lost to every good team that we have played. BYU is average at best even though they are 15-5. Their best win is against 11-7 Virginia Tech. And I know we should have beaten Kansas.

With Bubu we will be a better team. Lucious played terrible in 3 of our 4 losses. Bubu might have given us a better chance to win those games, and he might have been the difference of a 15-2 record compared to a 13-4 record which we have right now.
KL has seen the Fred light. The light showed him he should play within himself and not be the do everything jock. He is a much better asset to the team at this point.

I can agree with that. He is valuable. Good size for a PG and I can see us using that to our advantage down the road. Foot speed is an issue though. He plays intense defense but he's not quite quick enough to guard players like Pierre Jackson, or a Lucious.

A number of posters still overestimate what Bubu brings to the table.

8-10 minutes per game of >1.0 assists to turnover ratio from a guy that averaged 14 mpg and 1.4 A:TO last year is an overestimation?

I said nothing about who is the better player. I just don't want Bubu getting minutes that Naz currently does, which now, as opposed to preseason, seem to be big lead minutes or junk minutes. Yea, they aren't great minutes, but they are still game experience in the Big 12. Only place I think Bubu will get minutes is maybe those now spent by Clyburn playing the point. And that would require him to be in shape first. Offense just runs better when KL is in and I don't see Bubu facilitating the offense that well. He could give some relief on defense for both KL and Will if he is in shape.

Did I say everyone was overestimating him? No

Yeah, check your reading comprehension.

I don't see where anyone has predicted more than that, so I don't know how "a number" of people are overestimating him, unless that number is zero. I also don't see the need for hostility, but to each his own, I guess.

Last year against Iowa, Palo played 30 minutes, scored 14 points, went to the line 15 times and had a 6/1 assist/TO ratio. If anybody had done that this year, we probably win.

My opinion is that Bubu is a solid role/bench player, and that is it..

People assuming that he will pick it up where he left off last year is quite interesting. He hasn't played in a game since the tournament. To think he'll go out there and play like he did is ridiculous. It'll take a few games for him to find that form. I guess people that think he will, forget how Chris Allen and KL played in their first few games back on the court after a period of not being out there.

Which is better than any other guard off the bench other than Tyrus obviously.

I'm not feeling too great about KL feeling under the weather for tonight. Bubu has zero experience even playing with Niang other than the last few weeks, and not much experience with KL and WC except practice last year. Hoping Tech is as bad as everyone says they are.

If KL is limited Clyburn is going to be the point anyway. Bubu probably won't even get in unless we're up 20+ or in serious foul trouble.
