wow. just got off of work and checked on this thread. wasnt expecting as much feedback. nallen really hit in on the noggin. bubu is a quality bench player and thats something to be excited about. as for stevefrench, im just confused. you referenced bubu's one wild shot against uconn (which went in with the shot clock expiring)... bubu is far from a turnover machine and never takes bad shots. smart basketball player that plays good defense. go clones
I guess you weren't watching him against UConn and Kentucky in the tournament last year. Derp.
Everyone has to remember that Bubu was getting his minutes when ISU either had no point guard or only had one point guard (Diante Garrett). I don't see how Bubu fits into the makeup of THIS team. I agree with most that depth is never a bad thing, but Naz Long just received his first real B12 minutes against TCU. If Lucious is healthy and not in foul trouble, he's going to be in the game.
For as many people that think Bubu is gunna come in and contribute, there may be equal crowd that think Naz should instead.
But honestly what has Naz proved? He's seen very little pt in conference, and when he was in the other day to run the offense at the end of the 1st half he had a dumb turnover!!
Hope he turns into something in the future, but if Bubu is equal to what he's been in the past, i feel much more comfortable with him on there.
He was injured a lot of the season (broken hand, thumb, something like that) but when he returned he got 14 mpg. Not a ton but solid for a backup. Royce playing the point got everyone involved and created a huge mismatch (basically the same role LeBron plays at times for the Heat). Naz Long is not ready and I think he would have redshirted if Bubu didnt have his run in with the law.
At the end of the day Naz is a freshman. Only a handful of freshman that arent big recruits coming out of HS will contribute and not make dumb plays. Niang is proving to be one of those, Naz however still has a lot to learn and can learn better from the bench behind Lucious and Palo.
Being in street clothes with a broken wrist, being a still developing underclassman, and that tank being a freak NBA-bound mismatch best utilized with the ball in is hands are all answers anyone but Bubu haters can readily understand.
99% of the people defending Bubu are only contending that as an underclassman he was already a valuable rotation guy and that he brings things any team can use. If not for the likely rust, Bubu playing 5-15 minutes is not far-fetched or cause for concern. If Naz Long puts up the numbers in the non-con next year, is out for the majority of the Big 12 due to injury, then comes back and contributes such valuable minutes in two NCAA games, would you feel the same?
Guys that are not Big 12 players tend not to stick around, yet Fred is going to give a scholarship to someone who is willing to pay their own way just for charity? Your prejudice from Bubu being a one-time walk-on is clear.

There's your reason. Who in college is quick enough to guard him up the court, yet big enough to keep him from driving? Nobody. It was a crazy mismatch every single game.
I don't think we will actually need him much this season except if we get into foul trouble, as we are playing pretty well with Clyburn at the point when KL gets a breather. But we will really need him next year, especially the 1st semester before Jones gets eligible to play.
This is exactly why I'm excited to see him come back. I hate seeing Clyburn at the point. He dribbles too high to bring the ball up against point guards. Also, it takes away part of his offense. I'd much rather see a true point guard in there who can distribute the ball to people like Clyburn.
i can't wait for the chants after his first turnover "BURN HIM AT THE STAKE". Lot of mixed reactions about his comeback which surprised me.
look at it this way people, if he isn't playing at a high level he will sit on the bench. if he is adding something to the team he will play. he won't be in if he isn't contributing positively to the team. those are the decisions the coach makes to earn his money. he isn't going to play out of principle or "just because".
there is absolutely zero negative in bubu coming back.
if he sucks it up and doesn't play he is still a great scout team player for the starters.
if he plays, he has obviously shown cfh he is up to the task and give a much needed break to some other players.
