Which everyone already knew. Except CPR, apparently. This guy was bad news from the start.

Coe only looked good due to "tallest midget syndrome." He was not a good player. Addition by subtraction.

He's very much an NFL prospect and likely the best defensive player on the roster. Don't kid yourself.

The coaches need to not let it get that far. Get him motivated and get him thinking the things he missed were important enough. If you can't do that, don't recruit a guy like that.

It's obviously almost all on Coe, but how can you let that happen all around? And you let Irving stay after his whole thing? Questionable.

Can't really blame the coaches for a guy being an idiot. It's sad, and coaches due the best they can, but some kids are just unreachable. And don't bring up Irving. His charges were dropped for crying out loud. That stuff is decided by a committee, not just by the coaching staff anyway.

He had size, speed, and talent. He was a legitimate NFL player and possibly are most naturally talented individual on the football team. He also was probably one of our top returning defensive players.

Maybe it is addition by subtraction if he was a problem in the locker room, but not because he was a poor player.

So the dline will go from putting very little pressure to putting even less pressure on the QB.

Moving back to March basketball now.

Clearly he has burned up his chances. This is solely on the player. Good for the coaches for drawing a line in the sand.

Sucks but I'm not too broken up about it. The guy naturally has NFL size and talent. It never appeared that he had the work ethic to make it though. Just my opinion obviously. Kinda goes back to the old saying hard work beats talent when talent doesn't work hard.

Surely you jest. Coe had 5 TFLs with no sacks or forced fumbles. "Best defensive player on the roster"--that doesn't mean much. Again, the tallest midget syndrome.

We're better off giving young guys snaps.

You couldn't be any more wrong on this topic. I'm not going to argue with you, but I'm sure I won't be the only one to point out the ridiculousness of this HOT SPORTS TAKE!

Charges were dropped against Irving. If they would have dismissed him all he would have had to do is go to a judge and the judge would have let him back on the team anyway. :wideeyed:

Um, what young guys? DL is the thinnest area where personnel are concerned. I hope CPR can mine the JUCO ranks again for a replacement.

I originally wrote mint instead mine. It'd be cool if ISU could mint its FB players: Berryman talent with Ejim smarts.

This is icing on the cake for me. I fully expect our defense to be equal or worse than last year. I have to agree with some here about the DL. What the hell is going on? I think Jensen leaving was a huge deal and now this? Not good. I hope Mangino can work miracles iwth our offense because we will need it.

to those who think this isn't a devastating blow to our defense I say wake up. This is devastating. Our defense will be atrocious. Way to screw up a free education and a decent chance at life.

you have got to be the most uneducated and idiotic "fan" that I have ever come across... Decent chance at life? Are you kidding me?

Good lord, apparently God has as much of a thing against ISU D line as he did Iowa's RB's. Our line will be bad and beat to all heck. Maybe Taise is big enough just to stand there. How many Juco DL's do we sign next year?

Just too many d-line exits. Paul needs to get engaged. What good are safeties, DEs, linebackers, when you have no interior line? Eight yards and a cloud of dust. JGeorge was routinely blown off the line when the interior line collapsed last year.

Way too many d-line exits, and it is certainly concerning. I just don't think a guy with a history of problems getting kicked off the team is necessarily CPR's fault.
