They are spending a ton of time talking about Royce. Really talking him up. One of the announcers said he might be 3rd best passer in draft, behind Marshall and Machado. Might be top 10 talent but has anxiety disorder and issues with travel. First time they put his name up they had Kentucky listed but they changed it the other several times they showed his name.

Announcers have been talking about just Royce for about the past 5 minutes while they do some 2 on 1 drills. History, stats, skills, anxiety. Some season highlights.

Listed in "Fran's top five underrated."

Called him top 10 talent.
I think that is true, but I think he also wins if he slips to mid or late first round, ends up with a better team. I think his talents (passing in particular) will be much better used on a team with quality players and coaching rather a cellar dweller.

I've said this in other threads, but someone is going to get him for a steal. I really do think that anxiety thing is overplayed. Believe me, it's a real thing, but I bet there are others in the draft who take meds for some type of condition. His openness to his situation continues to bring attention to it.

When they said it's all about getting him to a team with a coach that knows how to use unique talents, they hit the nail on the head.

I don't think it's due to his anxiety (and I don't think you do, either). It's just his skill set. If you try to mold him into something too traditional, you lose a lot of what makes him an NBA player.

I do agree...and I think the right coach who studies the film and can find that fit (not thinking he can be a center or PG) will find a key that can win ball games. I've heard OKC could be a spot....that'd be a GREAT fit...very team oriented, etc. Same with the bulls.

He may have driven twice - when he could - but he also flew to the other fifteen or so road games. I really think that when GM's look at it critically, it will be a non-issue. His versatility will outweigh any concern about this. His shooting touch may be a bigger concern but they will be asking their coaching staffs if they think with his stroke they can fix it. I'm sure most coaches will say yes.

If it were OKC, I would weep tears of job all draft night long.

I just imagine Royce distributing with those guys and I see an insane team running the floor. Lots of good discussions as to whether Westbrook or Royce is the real point guard.

Absolutely...and I saw in a story the one driving trip was more cause his grandpa couldn't afford a plane ticket and to keep him company. As you know, the media LOVES making stories out of things...while this is a real thing, it's something for talking heads to get excited about as well.

I've gotten to know Royce personally and I will say with confidence he is top notch. He is a good kid and GMs/coaches will see that as they talk with him and his coaches/references. I think his mentoring by Hoiberg has been huge...there was a reason Fred was in the league as long as he was (and MANY more talented guys never sniffed the league or were gone in a few years) because Fred was a professional and I believe Royce will be a true professional.

Agreed... On the Bobcats he does little. On a decent playoff caliber team, he is a solid player off the bench, and will present matchup problems for other teams. Overtime he could easily develop into a very good 6th man and get some hardware.
