If live in a state with no NFL, It is usually a very passionate college football state. When you schedule a wedding, on a fall Saturday in a state like that, then do not be surprised if a good number of your guest are pissed off about it. I have been to weddings in the fall and heard the grumblings, saw people scrambling to find tv's in the receptions area, I have seen guys watch games on the phone during the wedding ceremony etc..
I already have a contingency plan set up to watch the game on my cousins phone if the reception doesn’t have a tv.

At the last minute, my wife has declared that I'm spending the entire weekend with my in-laws, 3.5 hours away. I should also add, I'm not a very spontaneous person, making major plan changes at the last moment is not my style - to put it lightly. There's a solid chance I'll get to watch the game still, but (agan to put it lightly), this is sub-optimal.

Well if your not attending TV should be good.

I skipped a friends wedding a few years ago to go to the Iowa State game.

It was the South Dakota State game.
Remember how that turned out?
(The game was cancelled)
That sucked

This site stood up for Steve Prohm up until the point he went 0-19 in Big 12 play. I'm shocked the greatest quarterback in Iowa State history can't even get a tenth of the backing. So ready for Brock to shut you losers up.
Do you promise. Because I really hope he does exactly that.

This team goes as far as he takes us, and he’s been the anchor sinking us on two ugly losses and one win (UNI) where the defense saved his ass

Didn't he actually play well last week?

Bad first half defense and special teams defined the game.

He played better but similar to a few of our losses, shakiness late just killed us. Threw an INT on the second to last drive of the game, and fumbled the snap on the 2PAT. Lucky they didn’t call him down immediately since his knee was definitely on the ground.

That said, special teams was far more to blame than Brock, you’re right.

Yeah shouldn't say 'well' but not in meltdown mode either.

As Josh Pate once said, there is only one option if you have to attend a non-football event on Saturdays in the fall: bomb threat

My godson's birthday is the end of August, and my sister has schedule his birthday get together the first Saturday of college football every year. Mainly so people could travel home Sundays.

She's knocking it off with big birthdays now that he is 5. Or so she says.

If only the Big 12 released their schedules a lot sooner; I’d plan a wedding around an Iowa State bye week..

My wife (she wasn’t yet at the time) asked me about a date for our wedding some 17 years ago. I asked her what was going on that weekend and she said “We’re at Baylor”. Both Iowa State and Baylor sucked back then, so “sold” (and I knew I had a winner).

Ha! I’d tell my wife to get bent in this scenario.

Just attended a wedding last week which was a COVID redux. Thankfully it was on Friday. Fall weddings should all be banned from being held on Saturdays.;)
Good thing you are not a Hok. They play games on Friday nights with the high schools.
