No idea why Candle would be interested.

It's a stretch. But he's had a ton of success at Toledo and no serious interest as P5 HC. Sure he could stay at Toledo and hope it happens.

Or he could take same money at ISU and be Big12 OC. If ISU's offense thrives under his leadership, maybe an ACC or Big12 school comes calling. The other thing, the dynamic of college football could be changing with the 12 team playoff. Will G5 schools continue to get CFP money or will they be left out? The HC funnel could also be streamlined- G5 HC => ACC/Big12 HC => Big10/SEC HC.

Maybe Matt can just crowdsource the playcalling to cyclonefanatic.com message board posters.

What is the source for this story? C-Dubs hasn’t said anything yet?

Nate didn’t give any hints at the We Will event.
Yes, I’m sure he was going to drop hints at an event like that. LOL it’s worse than so many of you thinking CW is some sort of insider.

Great spot for Nate! If he is to be viable as a head coach (including an eventual successor to CMC), he needs to be in more high end “programs” and few in football rival the McVay tree (maybe only Shanny and Reid for offensive side coaches).

Not going to be popular opinion, but NS is a bigger loss in recruiting than the Xs & Os. That energy and connections in the region will be a big hit. Also no ready play caller on staff, and the offensive staff is pretty short on experience. Direction will be interesting on this one. He is huge on coaches who fit with the staff and have existing relationships to be able to predict that fit, particularly on his offensive coaching room. My presumption is the first call is to Athens, Ohio and have no idea where a viable pivot would be. Maybe Gordon from USF.

Then maybe say that instead of implying it was well known on here. Most of us aren’t following Illinois news.

Ok he is still pissed Lovie didnt give him a coaching spot, hence he ended up with us. This move is to elevate his career and learn more from the pro ranks. He will come back to college and people at Illinois want him when Burt moves on or retires. Now he would come back to ISU to be head coach because Matt gave him a shot. He loves both schools but when your Alma Mater comes calling its hard to turn down. That being said he could being be coaching rhe Falcons in 3 years. Ya thats is a little much but you dont know;
