Bruce Weber could not recruit Chicago well, because he wouldn't "play the game" with the handlers and AAU coaches.

It's safe to say that other than that, he has a pretty good track record though, so I'm not sure why he gets such a bad rap.

He's doing just as well at KSU as the two previous coaches, who everyone assumed were amazing coaches because they yell a lot.

He probably learned a lesson or two when he failed in Champaign

Is he playing the game in Manhattan? If he could not get kids to come to a top 10 program, Chicago or elsewhere, how is he going to do it with a lesser program?

Chicago recruiting is a different game all together. It's a totally dirty game.

Anyway, he seems to be finding highly talented kids like Marcus Foster, regardless of where he was ranked, he can play.

I wouldn't spend much time trying to figure it out. These really don't mean much. I would say Creighton (post-Doug) and Iowa are pretty evenly matched in my mind.

Interesting if Nebby did in fact handle K-State.

I watched the Kstate Big Xii Tournament game again last night and we were pretty fortunate to get by them. They only had one senior starter in guard Will Spradling, who did very little against us. They had four very talented freshmen, including Marcus Foster, and their horse inside, Gibson, will be a senior this year. They lose Shane Southwell off the bench, who always has monster games against us, and that big guard Omari Lawrence, who provided a spark for them off the bench against us in the tournament game, but they should be formidable when we have to face them this year.

I think it's safe to say that Bruce Weber has exceeded most everyone's expectations at K-State so far. I think it's a little early to write him off simply because he couldn't sustain his early success at a completely different school in a completely different conference.

I'm glad Southwell and Spradling are gone, both of them torched ISU throughout their careers.

We would have won, but Creighton had replay available for our last second game winner.

So much can change from now until March.....ISU could even lose a couple unsuspecting games in the non-conf and still wreak havoc in the Big 12.

I think he played, from my quick unofficial search, the scrimmage was before Oct. 28th and the injury was Oct 31st.

Gibson used to play for ISU. Gipson plays for KSU.

They also lost to Northern Colorado first game last year. Turned out to have a pretty solid team. KSU is going to be good this year no doubt. The scrimmage means zero.

Agreed. It is what it is,...JUST a scrimmage. KState possibly experimenting with Foster, plus multliple lineups. Miles has 7 of 9 guys back. We have to play soon without McKay, Nader, and Thomas. Our experimenting w/ lineups could make our scrimmage with Minn. interesting as well. None of us should be alarmed or any less encouraged , or vice versa over-confident regardless of our result of an upcoming scrimmage.

We lost to Creighton in the scrimmage. Recall reading we were ahead somewhat late and lost by about 10. Rothstein tweeted Kane played extremely well and Ejim and Niang didn't play well, so that was the first things we really heard about Kane at the time.

That is kind of my point. He wasn't willing to recruit in Chicago and was not able to bring top level talent from other places to a top ten team. Why would he be able to do that in Manhattan?

Foster can play, but you can't really expect to find a player of his caliber that everyone else missed on every class.
