After today, I would love nothing more than a Jeff Goodman tweet tomorrow evening saying "A little birdie told me that Iowa State demolished Minnesota in their secret scrimmage and the Cyclones look like a Final Four quality team"

@GoodmanESPN: I am told the sports information directors and coaches ARE allowed to provide info on the secret scrimmages. Not quite so secret any more.

@GoodmanESPN: Now the SID who told me he could comment on the secret scrimmages isn't 100 percent certain. Damn, NCAA is gonna show-cause me for this.

The team lost Marble, their only big time scorer. There is nobody coming in to replace him and nobody on their squad who seems to be able to step up. People say the same thing about ISU every year, but Fred brings in new talent to replace what was lost. Iowa wasn't even one of the 64 best teams last year. My guess is NIT again.

Everyone may have a better knowledge on how their talent equates to their competition than I do, but my thought is that Iowa will actually be better "because" of losing Marble. Lots of other experience back, a chip on their shoulder after last season's slide, and they won't sit around "waiting" for Marble to make every play. Bottom line, I hope your opinion is closer to being right. lol

That could be, but my question is.... who can Iowa turn to down the stretch when they absolutely need a basket? They don't really have anyone that can create their own shot with Marble gone.

Correct. That fact, that you passed on Edwards or so it's been said here, will make the ISU games even more interesting.

Justin Edwards is a hell of a player and is going to be very good. I don't think it's entirely accurate to say the staff "passed" on him.
