Most of these guys know very little outside the blue bloods. Listen to the podcast nerds if you want analysts that know every team. How did Davis even get his job? I guess he's a pretty good writer, but he should stay away from analysis.
He still failed to give ANY love for us beating his "for sure" 5-12 upset. These "experts" are just guys who get paid to give you what it's from different vantage points, but their guesses are no better than any of ours. After our game recap, he couldn't stop talking about how we "cant give up threes like we did." Seth, you were wrong, we controlled the game, swallow the damn crow already. He probably is one of the people who thinks Monte isn't a top 5 point guard in the NCAA
Some guys working a telecast with Davis last year talked about his locks and how they would likely fail. They called the picks/endorsement, the "Kiss of Seth".
The studio guys were openly mocking Seth Davis on the air during Selection Sunday for putting Nevada in the Sweet 16, as they had ISU in the Sweet 16/Elite 8.
Lets be fair the whole CBS crew today was flat out bad. During the game if you knew nothing about basketball you would have thought ISU played in some JUCO junk conference and Nevada played in the NBA.
The knucklehead himself Charles Barkley seemed to be the only guy pointing out that Nevada probably only played a couple opponents that were similar to ISU's caliber all year.
There were reasons to pick Nevada as a hot team, there really weren't many reasons to pick ISU to lay an egg. Senior team and probably hottest team in CBB or definitely top 3 hottest team.
When you have the crazy obvious Minn-MTSU matchup where MTSU was actually favored by Vegas...dude sucks at predicting basketball.
I think Sir Charles is generally pretty good with his comments.
Charles only follows college hoops a few weeks a year...but still can make better points than some of these guys who cover it year round. Plus he isn't obsessed with blue blood programs like the typical college hoops media guys.
Bolded is why he can actually be pretty insightful.
