While attendance was great last year you could still get a $10 (or less) ticket to almost any home game..

umm, a couple of us went to the UNI game without tickets and had a heck of a time finding any ticket under face. We had a hard time finding tickets period from sellers/scalpers---bought a couple right before kickoff

Exactly. No other football stadium that has implemented beer sales has reported any remarkable increase in drunk obnoxious fans needing to get kicked out than already happens.

1) Most college students are poor and would still choose to sneak alcohol in rather than buy $8 beers. These people are going to drink inside the stadium either way.

2) The rest of the fans in the stadium will be the ones who might partake in a couple of beers during the game. Again, this isn't going to turn JTS into a crowd any different than it already is.

ISU needs the revenue. ISU needs beer sales.

Reread my post, not going to happen as long as Jamie Pollard is AD.

I asked JP this question a few weeks ago at Johnnys and he said, " not on my watch, absolutely not while i'm here". Reason being the amount of reports about and i quote "Knockleheads now" and does not want more.

So i did reply well that sucks, will have to keep sticking beers in my socks. Anyway CyAggie was part of this discusion

So basically end of beer thread............................................................................
Greetings TK!! As soon as ground is broke on the SEZ, I expect JP to move on as his work at ISU will be done. So maybe we need to put more emphasis on the "his watch" part than on it not happening. Oh and I'll pick you up when E and I are headed to DSM airport for the beach trip!!! ;-)

My guess is JP goes back to Wisky soon (see what I did there?)

I just don't think that 500k is worth it for the hassle and potential liability for ISU. I was also this kid, and another beer was the last thing that I generally needed. However, if someone was selling it nearby, I was definitely going to buy it even it it cost $10.

I don't buy that selling beer inside JT will reduce the amount consumed as a whole. The kid sneaking a flask in is nearly impossible to stop, catch, or control so I think they're a different animal altogether. If they're sneaking it in they're going to drink/share that first and once that's gone they'll be #1 in line for the $8 beers.

I just think ISU can do better and once you open this box, you can't close it.

The hassle and liability is mostly mythical.

ISU already sells alcohol at some events, so the liability is obviously not an issue. It doesn't appear to be an issue at WVU. Even the cops (professional fun haters) there say it hasn't had any effect on game day problems.

Gotta agrea. Would love to have him stay but what do you do next in a job of "what have you done for us lately". I think it unlikely we keep him once this goes down but I can only hope he is here forever.

Why is it so damn important that ISU serve beer at JTS? I don't get why so many believe it's a "must have". The money isn't that significant especially compared to the windfall we are about to get with Tier 1 re-upped.

I think alot just want to be able to proclaim ISU as a party school and this would contribute to that reputation so gotta have it!

Sorry I started all this but the facts are still the same, debate all we want, but it is a non-issue at this point as far as ever happening in the current administration.

A million a year (judging from WVU's expectations) isnt significant?

ISU needs all the money it can get. The real question is why is there such a hangup on preventing ISU from selling something that is legal for adults to drink and is already being consumed in and around the stadium and is already served at other athletic department events (and is served at nearly every pro arena around the country).

In case anyone wants to continue the debate about the sale of alcohol at ISU sporting events, I encourage you to continue on this thread- Should Iowa State Serve Beer at Sporting Events? - CycloneFanatic
For those of you who would like to continue to to talk about the SEZ, I would love to hear what you have to say, and to those of you who want to talk about hot tubs, Hooters, and bowling alley's, I want to see more pictures!

Sorry, I thought this was a thread about the south end zone...

No, it's about the SEC, Hooters, hot tubs, strippers/topless cheerleaders, a bowling alley, selling beer at JTS, rebecacy's vacation plans, how much longer JP will stick around, and I think a few other things.

Personally I think this thread is about the chant that the student section started when we beat A&M in basketball at home. SEZ! SEZ! SEZ!

Because it is an extremely easy way to significantly increase our bottom line. We are literally just leaving money on the table for no reason. Why can't you get that through your head?

This isn't about calling ourselves a "party school". One trip through the student lots before a game should answer that question.

If ISU can make upwards of $1Million bucks a year selling beer, I think the real question is why is it so damn important for you to be against it?
