Who is going to buy the license to sell this stuff? The TM license covers the retailer. The screenprinter is not the reseller, you are. You'll have to purchase the license and pay 8% in royalties. That's a lot of shirts just to break even. Just sayin.
Dogtown (who posted earlier in the thread) is an official licensed screenprinter/reseller for Iowa State. They have already said they would work on a few designs and see what we think. If we like them, I'm sure those who want them would just buy through them with a regular retail markup. Maybe they'll be really popular and it'll be something they decide to add to their clothing line on a full-time basis.

Ah, well that's pretty cool. Does anyone know of any offset printers that can do the same type of deal?

SHIRTS FOR ARMY GAME - NO GO

You CAN NOT use the words Iowa State, CY, Cyclone, any arrangement of the word or ANY of the logos without the permission of Iowa State. That is VERY hard to get.

Unless (as it's been pointed out in this thread numerous times) you go through an official licensed vendor. Which, it just so happens, Dogtown (who has graciously offered to come up with some designs) is.

Not really. I did it last year and I had to get approved through Leesha Zimmerman who runs the licensing department. (Thats right, I worked through a licensed vendor AND had to get permission!) Just because you run through a licensed vendor doesn't mean that any Joe Cy can create a shirt.

But Dogtown is the one creating the shirts, so it would be their issue.

You can search the official vendors on the Trademark Licensing Office website.

Seriously---there's only one way to settle this.

I'll start making tons of jello.

Creating and selling? Or just creating the shirts for you?

This is the post from Dogtown. After searching the official licensed vendors on the Trademark Licensing site, they were one of the companies that "can use the trademarks to produce apparel items using screenprinting or embroidery."

After reading this thread about Iowa State v Army camo shirts, maybe I can help. I own a screenprinting shop and Iowa State retail store (Dogtown University). Give me two weeks and I can have some available for sale in our store, in the meantime, we have a Facebook page for Dogtown and I can put some options there for people to see. It will take a day or two to get them on our Facebook page. I would love to have some input.

I'm sure they have worked with the Trademark Licensing office before and know the protocol. Perhaps the design does need to be signed off by the TLO. What we're not trying to do is be Joe Schmoe who comes up with a design and takes it to a local place to get around the trademark issue.
