Shirts for Army game

like I said before. this isn't THE army it is their football team. Yes I know they are army cadets but my God, to we have to revere every team that comes in.

We need to respect every single team that comes in to Jack Trice regardless or their supposed prestige level. If people wanted to make a shirt for every game of the year I say go for it. The fan base needs to be pumped up and rowdy for every game not just when the opponent is 'worthy of caring.'
People shouldn't come in to the stadium thinking 'gee we're playing NDSU today they aren't worthy of me cheering for the cyclones. I'll just be grumbly if we mess up.'

But it's more of a game if we treat them like they are the army team from the 50s. I'm thinking we blare some Elvis and tell Army fans to "sit on it!" That'll really get to those flat-tops.

After reading this thread about Iowa State v Army camo shirts, maybe I can help. I own a screenprinting shop and Iowa State retail store (Dogtown University). Give me two weeks and I can have some available for sale in our store, in the meantime, we have a Facebook page for Dogtown and I can put some options there for people to see. FYI - I think there needs to be an option for a cardinal colored t-shirt with camo print, similar to what Juggercy posted a page or two back.

I am all for showing respect for the Army football team. I don't think that we need half of Jack Trice in camoflage. I want it to look like a crowd full of CYCLONES, not a crowd full of Black Knights.

I agree with you on looking like Cyclones. That's why I think a cardinal camo design with gold writing would be sweet. We can't find the shirts ourselves, but a place like Dogtown/A&R has the resources to screenprint an entire camo design onto the front of a shirt in whatever colors they feel like. Hopefully they'll come up with a range of options and give us input on their Facebook page on which ones we feel are most appropriate in supporting the Cyclones.

I like the cardinal shirt with the Camo letters thats already for sale. I would also purchase a red-camo shirt with yellow letters, but will NOT purchase a regular camo shirt with whatever ISU on it.

Hah, no it wasn't swearing. I think it was some kind of misspelling of camouflage. I don't remember for sure what I put there... :biglaugh:

Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if the shirts sell regardless the team we play. Isn't camo the in thing anyway. So it's just fitting that we play a military school.

I would agree there would be more popularity in the cardinal camo than the traditional. I would be very interested to see how these turn out.

For me, it would possibly bring alot of attention to this game (ESPN) if the students/fans showed up in support of ISU while still supporting our armed forces. WE NEED ALL THE GOOD PUBLICITY WE CAN GET.
I understand Gameday won't be in Ames...but if ESPN showed the students' section all decked out in cardinal/gold camo it would be awesome!!! As a day game we would possibly be shown during halftime highlights of every game the entire day. Alot can be said for showing respect. I seriously doubt it would upset any of our players, we stood by them through 9-27 the last 3 years...they know we love them.
I have never heard of another university doing something like this.

No kidding. Stand up and applaud when they come into the stadium, but why the hell would we dress like we are fans of their team. Let's wear black and gold 2nd week of the season. Or better yet, purple and white in Arrowhead. I understand the camo, but think it is a bad idea and don't see it as that great a token of respect. Not everyone trips over themselves to kiss the boots of the armed forces teams when they play at other venues. Dressing like we are the opposing team's fans; only at ISU. :no:

I agree with bfross. If we go straight camo, then count me out. We might as well forget about home field advantage then. Heck... Every game we should dress like the opponent. That would be sweet.

That being said.... Cardinal and Gold Camo would be sweet. Why??? Cause it's "OUR" colors.

Also, have any other teams gone out of their way to honor the visitors and make them "home team" for the day?? If we did too much honoring we totally take away the rowdy crowd feeling from the game. We only won 2 games last year. We need every "advantage" we can get.
