You guys are making a big deal about nothing..... His banner is down. Who the flip cares?

The award is for those who have made preeminent contributions to their profession. I do not believe harboring a child molester and predator has been a preeminent contribution as president of Penn State. Cheapens the award.

Probably the same people who drug the complaining and hand slapping out for 6 months last time around... I am sure there are plenty of convicted felons that are affiliated with other distinguished alum lists. Just remove the name if it is going to get everyone's panties in a bunch and don't even do a press release.
Does anyone really even pay attention to distinguished alums? I know it was pretty much nowhere on my list when I was looking at ISU, and nowhere on my list when I cut them my donation checks.

Sandusky was the one hurting the kids, while harboring is obviously a felony, some people on this board are making it sound like Spanier selected the kids and took them to Sandusky's office

As an alum I'd prefer that a quick internet search not reveal his ISU ties...but what are you gonna do, he HAS ISU ties. But hey, John Wayne Gacy worked at KFC and there's no way in hell I'm quitting KFC. Banner's down. Good enough for me.

Yep, I remember when the banner was taken down. One day I was walking on the sidewalk that runs north/south just to the west of Beardshear and noticed that there was a different banner there. No fanfare or anything.

Best way to do it. It is too bad, because I remember seeing that banner and thinking how great the education was at Iowa State. I think even more than Sandusky; Spanier and Paterno's decisions really hit harder for folks across the country. They both let a lot of people down that looked up to them as intelligent leaders. He does not deserve to be distinguished. Spanier's name should become lost in abscurity among the non-distinguished alumni.
