I would think that Missouri could set their sights a bit higher than Toledo's head coach?

Missouri has been in the SEC Championship game a couple times in the last several years, correct?

Why would they be settling for a MAC guy?

Is this a serious post?

2 things are certain. Whoever is hired was JP's 1st choice, and the media knew it all along.

Are people really saying time to move on because Campbell is playing us?

Heck, Campbell is not my first choice. But if ISU has decided that Campbell is the best man for the job, go outbid Missouri.

I tend to agree with this, but this is JP we're talking about here. He isn't going to outbid anyone. He gets people on the cheap. That's what he does.

He claims in his press conference after firing Rhoads that money will not be an issue with finding the next guy, but of course we all knew this was complete BS.

We're going to continue to pay about the least of anyone else in the league and expect to win. Not gonna happen.

People seem to forget that CFB is a business. One of the biggest mistakes someone can make in business is letting their emotions dictate their business decisions. And there's a lot of emotional decision-making being done by CF right now, saying that because Campbell decided to look at other offers that he should no longer be our guy.

The worst thing we could do is cut off Campbell because he decided to look at his options - that would be a terrible signal to send out to other potentially interested coaches. You don't want to send out signals that either you decide on us now or go look somewhere else - we're not that good of a job. But at the same time, if Campbell is going to shop around, I have no problems with us continuing to shop around as well. In fact, I'd be worried if we weren't.

Pollard screwed up by canceling other interviewees, unless it is willie that he goes with. Weird about Campbell since he is such a "please" &"thank you" manners etc guy, per articles on him, that he'd do something like this. Don't use leverage if your a handshake man of ur word.

Every day that goes by now without a hire is a valuable day wasted. We fired Rhoads a week early so we could get a head start on the search ahead of some other teams, but now that advantage will soon be gone.

JP has to be sweating bullets tonight. Or at least he better be. This hire could be his job, and it's on very shaky ground right now.

I've wanted Fritz all along, so I'm still holding out hope. I would have been fine with Campbell though too.

Hopefully tomorrow we'll hear that Fritz is the guy and it's a done deal.... not close to being a done deal.

Or pay market rates and still get subpar results.

I do too. But I'm not gonna lose what ever dignity I have left for a MAC coach who hasn't proved anything.

The butthurt because a human does what most humans do is hilarious. Why wouldn't he browse around and do what's best for him and his bank account?

If he verbally agreed to take the job then no it isnt.

Oh and it's also human nature to tell him to get lost based on this. So don't get worked up if thats what we do.

This gambit by Campbell and his agent only really works if they are content to stay at Toledo and take the PR hit that goes with it should they not secure either the ISU or Mizzou or similar job. At least Toledo did their part by providing an offer sheet of their own so he can save face if it falls back to that.

My top choices are still Monken and Fritz, but I did like the fact that Campbell was a current winning HC, and a former OC/OL coach. Being an OL coach is probably a great quality for coaching in Iowa. Our new coach needs to specialize in offense. Being young is a bonus. Helps connect with recruits, aren't out dated. Understand how things work these days and can easily adapt.

Pollard should raise season tickets $100 and then we could cough up $3-4 mil per year and win a lot of games.
