So, what do you think for Farmageddon?

Definitely a pedal tractor type thing. Partial to it as my only trophy (other than a stupid participation trophy) was for winning a pedal tractor pull at the Boone County Fair when I was like 8.
I like trophies like this rather than the commercial made ones like we have now for the CyHawk. These are cooler, when they are organic, and something more real than just standard trophy.

I do like the idea of a real classic tractor, but I dont think either college would ever go for something that big, that is that hard to transport/display. But a pedal tractor or milk jug etc, would be small enough and would really fit the theme.

Problem is they will want to make it a money making sponsorship, and that will ruin it. It will be Farmageddon trophy brought to you by Dekalb or something.

The bushel basket is a no brainer. Country simple and easily marked with the winner/score... Winner brings it to the next meeting filled with wheat or corn. If the opposing team wins they can rush the other sideline and dump the other teams crop in a Farmageddon f×ck you gesture. If the winner holds serve, they raise up their crop in an offering to the football gods...

Maybe just a brick from an old silo. Here's a pic I took of one at a farm auction near Forest City in August... 20220730_114120.jpg

I like the Tractor idea, but I'd like it to still be a traditional trophy, a Bronzed Tractor Trophy, about the size of Floyd, heavy as crap but still can be picked up by strong kids.

No sponsor but you know JD or Case would throw enough money at it that it'd be sponsored.

The trophy shouldn't have a sponsor unless they are giving big sums of money to both schools. I continue my crusade of advocating for a pitchfork trophy in the similar fashion as paul bunyan's axe.

I am still a big fan of an actual old-school tractor. Drive it to the game every year the week before for media attention, let it sit on the sideline. You can get a student ag org that is active at both schools to manage all that, get JD and/or Case to pay for it all. You don't even have to name it - if JD gives $X per year, you just use an old JD tractor, that's marketing enough. Just play for "The Old Tractor".

The bushel basket isn't a bad idea either. The pitchfork is also good, but probably a little too pointy for our purposes here.

I like the pitchfork or bushel basket idea. OR maybe a giant corn cob. Or maybe a fat farmer statue. Like a buddha statue, but a fat farmer in bib overalls, straw hat and big grizzly hands. With a small stalk of hay sticking out of his mouth. Maybe he could be holding a pitchfork too.

So like this only make it look like a farmer with a fork or something instead of a burger.

You're getting close to Herby Husker territory there.

I like the idea behind a tractor. I just dont think you will ever get either University to ever go for it, and I dont know if it would ever take off.

Something that the players can go grab and celebrate is probably better.

Pitchfork is good but will probably be considered too dangerous.

A pedal tractor, is probably a good stand in for a real tractor.

A bushel basket or milk can is probably the best because of ideas mentioned, and space for schools and years to be added.

A statue would be fine, but my guess is then you might as well go with the thrown out CyHawk trophy, because it actually makes sense for Farmageddon. I hate to say it but that terrible trophy actually kinda works here.

I have this old state of Iowa football schedules poster framed and hanging in my office. I always thought the ‘football as an ear of corn’ would make a good Farmageddon trophy - maybe in bronze. View attachment 77713
This is what I posted back in November, 2020 for my idea for a Farmageddon trophy design. It's an image from an old state of Iowa football schedule poster I have framed in my office.
