Classic CF blaming students for something they are doing themselves. College students can't be out and about, but you want your K-12 kids go to in person classes.

You want football players to be upstanding citizens and totally locked down so you can have entertainment on Saturdays yet you need to go to your breweries because of freedom.

How do you expect young adults to even care about the rest of society when you give absolutely zero ***** about them their entire lives, treating millenials as a dirty generation for the last 20 years.

Can't wait for the annual "Why aren't the students standing?" thread.

Doesn't matter. Same generation of adults have been hating on young adults my entire life and Gen Z's entire life. Now they hate on Zoomers for calling them Karen or saying "Ok, Boomer". When a generation has held on to power as long as they have it's insane. I mean we're gonna vote between 70+ year olds in this upcoming election. Sorry if the young generation doesn't care about what they say about the future and doesn't listen.

For the record I've had blood clots in my lungs before and already suffered permanent damage. I haven't been inside a store, restaurant, car, elevator, touched, hugged, kissed, met with anyone or anything since March.

I am sad that young adults aren't listening to the guidance of professionals, including a lot of my friends. But to blame these students is so hypocritical of this board it would be hilarious if it wasn't sad that people are dying.

I don't even disagree with most of what you're saying, but good God that's a wide paintbrush. So much anger.

Much more likely to die doing stupid crap like that than some virus. Yep, that was pretty dumb.

This is incorrect. Over 170,000 Americans have died of COVID in less than 6 months. That’s around a 1 in 2,000 chance of dying if a new disease over a less than 6 month period. You are flat out more likely to have died of COVID, let alone your “much much more” hyperbole.

Please just stop saying false things. You are by far the most consistently incorrect person on this site. C’mon man.

I believe Argent was meaning that person in the video, which would be 1000% true. That idiot is far more likely to get killed doing something like that compared to the virus. He's more likely to get killed by a lot of other things than the virus.

He's obviously figured something out, having lived this long being an idiot, so maybe he's not more likely to die from that?

Statistically speaking, if you're constantly putting yourself in harms way like that, you are increasing the likelihood of something bad happening by a lot.

You also thought there would be no football. :jimlad:

You might regret saying that. Did you just jinx the season?

I really do hope they can have the season and do it safely. I’ve just doubted that can possibly happen. I’ve said that I hope I’m proven wrong.

Everything will probably hinge on the next 2-3 weeks. With all the students back on campus now, we will know in that time frame if there’s a big outbreak or not?

If there's a breakout within the team or within other teams, that's when I'll get worried about the season happening or not.

I may believe that if it wasn’t for his repeated posts of the same nature. It’s clear he is trying to push this theme and he has repeatedly posted false information on this subject.

His logic is off. Total unintentional deaths in the US is around 150,000 per year. That doesn't mean you're doing anything wrong either nor does it mean alcohol was involved. So as a whole, this virus has taken more lives than making stupid decisions.

For young adults and children though 25 or under, deaths due to the virus won't come close to deaths relating to poor decision making.

Correct - the guideline is simply to give people a standard to align policies around. The fact is that you could walk past somebody in the hall and if they exhale about the time you walk past, you could get just as sick from them as if you spend hours having sex with them.
Probably has already surpassed the amount of coverage the U of I racism story received.
No wonder Iran supports Biden. Remember when Obama/Biden sent cash and unfroze billions of their assets. Disgusting. Wonder if they used the same cash to send a message. Sad

It appears the students are not just to blame:

I wonder what department that instructor is in. In the department I work in (yes, I work at ISU) I can say every faculty member is taking this seriously. The department chair very much is stressing the importance of face coverings. Having said that, no doubt there are faculty who won't do what they are asked to do. Faculty are no different than students in that regards. Faculty are no different than the general population either.

If the team is in a “bubble” with no contact with the rest of the student population, then I’ll go with that too.

If they aren’t in a bubble, it will only be a matter of time until an outbreak on campus affects the team.

The bubble needs to extend beyond the student population. If it's spreading through the general student population, it's going to be spreading through the rest of the Ames population. This increases the risk of infection when just going to a store or other place of business.

There's no question that it could. Hopefully the players are responsible enough. They know what's at stake and what the consequences are, but that doesn't mean everyone will be perfect and you almost need perfection in this situation.

That's why the mask mandate of Ames was important. Not going to be many places where you can go maskless.

Mac Brown said today he believes not having his players go into classrooms helps put a better seal on their bubble.
