Prohm just has to figure out how to keep him from fouling. I think it's hard for Lard right now because not only did he have all that time away, he had the suspension he had to serve and probably feels a lot of pressure because of those things and he knows that everyone is watching him. I hope Prohm can help him get right out there because as we saw against Iowa in the second half, he can make a huge difference for this team and as Prohm said then need him to be out there and playing well if this team is going to reach it's full potential.

Talented players that you are referring to don't average a foul a minute taking unnecessary risks on the floor...that's the action of someone who isn't interested in playing

So is Lard interested or disinterested in playing basketball? Your posts contradict themselves.

First of all, I love your Profile Name. Seeing your location, do you work for Lucas Films?

Second, seeing your location, can you please stop saying we / our with regard to tax payer dollars as I don't think California taxes, even though they are significant in size, are part of Steve's salary. I let it go the first time, but you had to raise it again. : )

In my opinion, Steve's salary (which is moderate for a person in his relative position) does not mean he should care more about the short term (this year's basketball results) than the long term (Cam's life success). Thankfully, I'm pretty sure Jamie Pollard agrees.

Thank you for the compliment on the name! I do not work for Lucas Films, though.

To your point, I think you missed the two other people who called that out. And then the other person who pointed out donations pay his salary and not tax dollars. So being that I donate, I actually do help pay his salary.

My point is not how much he makes relative to other coaches, it is more that I am defending the reasonable action of criticizing a coach who is one of the top paid employees of the state and that I think the results of his strategy so far (with Lard) deserve some skepticism.

I see most people on here blaming the results of what we have seen solely on the 20 year old Lard, but even mentioning skepticism of how Steve has handled the situation draws others to attack those who do pretty aggressively.

I think part of the problem is he's trying to do too much. He needs to learn to play under control a little better while still playing with intensity. I think his 3rd foul of the Drake game was a play where he simply ran into the other guys back because he wasnt really under control. Little stuff like that can't happen.

Hypothetical scenario #3 They are 10-1 and Lard is playing a lot and the team is playing well.
Right. I’m not sure why so many here lack confidence in Prohm and Lard that they resort to false dilemmas, but it’s entertaining.

We don’t need Lard to play for this team to play well. We’ve got a lot of capable players. The play in the first 6 games was high quality and superior to the last 5 games, despite adding returning players in Talley and Lard. It’s not due to more difficult SOS. Iowa was potentially a better team, but the rest were equally mediocre opponents. We’re now seeing coaches that have tape on this team. We’ll see how our staff responds.

Lewis played like piss the first 5 or so games of the year, but we had to keep running him out there out of necessity and he worked through it, got comfortable, and now gives solid minutes.

I expect Lard will be in a similar situation. Unfortunately there’s only one more cupcake game and then it’s the real part of the season when it’s hard to let someone work through their deficiencies when you have other options.

Yeah, Young is the better defender, he's the best defender on the team. I was more interested in your thoughts on Lard vs Jacobson. I think Jacobson is a liability on defense, but his offense and other areas of the game offset that.
Jacobson isn’t anywhere near the liability Lard currently is. Jacobson’s worst defensive rating in a season is basically Lard’s from last year.

Lard is a high strikeout and home run type defender. He may come up with some big plays, but he leaves his teammates in bad spots just as many times.

Might have been alot more wise to put a bigger body on Cooke and let one of the 6'5 guys take on Garza then?

Garza is terrible and Im making him beat me if Im Prohm instead of putting small forwards on the best frontcourt player on the floor and hoping for the best.

If memory serves they did at one point switch Jacobson on to him and also tried Conditt. Lard was doing pretty well in the second half against him.

Yes he is, I've been watching him on D numerous times this year to try to figure out why we are getting beat so bad inside and on Defensive rebounding. He's a stud on offense no doubt, and hes obviously a leader out there, but plays defense much smaller than he actually is. We need Solomon and Lard in there as they are the best defenders by far. Those 3 should split the front-court minutes as they are all 3 completely different players.

You apparently missed the Iowa game. What games have you been watching?
