Yes he is, I've been watching him on D numerous times this year to try to figure out why we are getting beat so bad inside and on Defensive rebounding. He's a stud on offense no doubt, and hes obviously a leader out there, but plays defense much smaller than he actually is. We need Solomon and Lard in there as they are the best defenders by far. Those 3 should split the front-court minutes as they are all 3 completely different players.
Nice anecdote, but far from factual. If you thought someone said Jacobson never gets beat, you may have something. But that’s not the contention. Another error in your narrative is despite what you think you recall, our defense with Jacobson has been some of the best in years sans the Drake and Iowa games. That was in large part due to how Jacobson plays ball screens.

Lard’s only played 31 minutes. In that small sample he’s made more mistakes than Jacobson has in several games combined. Also more fouls. Right now he’s often the hockey assist in the failure of our defense and rebounding.

What are you talking about? Jacobson has 18 fouls this year and Lard has 14. Since when is 14 > 18?

Some of you guys just makeup statistics to try to prove a point. So you think the reason our defense and rebounding is struggling is because of Lard and his 7.8mpg?

Iowa game? Thats a weird one to bring up about stellar defense considering we couldnt stop anybody that night.

Considering you didn't know who was guarding Cook, I'm hopeful you know which player Jacobson is.

You mean 2 of the best teams we've played so far? When we've only played 11 games you cant just throw out the 2 worst games and then proclaim our defense is good. It doesnt work like that.

I honestly don't remember, I was doing other things and turned it off a couple times because of embarrassingly bad we were playing. I suppose you've never shut a game off because you were frustrated?

Did you expect Jacobson to defend two players simultaneously?

Jacobson can play sound defense against any team whereas Lard is a matchup dependent guy.

Lard’s biggest weaknesses from a year ago aren’t easily solved in a normal offseason, let alone his offseason.

No, I don't pout like a little kid.

You just enjoy watching them get treated like the JV team against the biggest rival then huh? I dont want to watch that crap.

I would venture to say 50% of the crowd left early when Iowa State was down to K-State in the 4th a couple weeks ago. So evidently lots of other fans don't like watching their team lose either.

I watched the Iowa game and the Kansas State games til the end. Sometimes we come back and make things interesting.

I watched both of them also, the Iowa game I was doing other stuff and would turn it back periodically to see if we still had a shot. Doesnt mean Im pouting or not a good fan if I dont watch every second of every game.

It stinks losing to Iowa. We've been down to Iowa in Hilton and have managed to come back. With the amount of times Iowa has pissed down their leg in the second half in the Fran era, I'll never feel like we're out of it against them.

Several games combined, which is what I posted, isn’t synonymous to all games. Regardless of your oversight on that, the fact that Jacobson only has 4 more fouls than Lard in 318 minutes to Lard’s 31 is exactly the point. Were you making a poor attempt at satire?

Yes, we need better defense and rebounding recently, yet Lard is only getting 8 minutes a game. You’re getting close to understanding- you don’t get better on defense playing liabilities that setup teammates for failure and that foul.

You can’t just throw out straw man’s and anecdotes and then proclaim you’ve refuted anything. It just doesn’t work like that.

Drake isn’t one of the best teams we’ve played.

The contention isn’t that our defense is good, but that Jacobson is less of a liability than Lard. You responded with anecdotal bull **** as though we’re getting killed on defense and Jacobson was often to blame. Neither of those are true. You have not yet provided any logic to suggest the defense gets better with Lard taking Jacobson’s minutes, or that Lard is less of a liability.

Agree that our team will need all three of these guys in Big 12 play.
Just curious, based on their play thus far, how many minutes/game would you give now to Jake, Solo, Lard, and Conditt?

Imo that depends on how well the staff can get this team to play small ball. Given that, there may be closer to 80 minutes available to those four than many lineup threads had a month ago.

Jacobson 30
Young 25
Lard 15
Conditt 5

You need to take some remedial math if you can't figure out what he was talking about with the fouls. Hell I'm horrible at math myself and can even figure this out pretty easily. He was not making up stats... Let me help you out a little:

Jacobson:
GP: 11
Minutes: 317
Fouls: 18
Fouls per minute = 18/317 = 0.057

Lard:
GP: 7
Minutes: 31
Fouls: 14
Fouls per minute = 14/31 = 0.452

Take that over a 40 minute game and Jacobson's per is 2.28 fouls while Lard's is 18.08. Lard would essentially foul out over 3 times in a 40 minute game at his current per minute rate he is fouling. You can't just take a raw stat and spin it anyways you want. That is like saying a guy that has hit 48 of 100 free throws for 48% is better than a guy that has hit 40 of 50 free throws for 80% because using your math 48 > 40 even though the volume is not comparable just like Jacobson has way more volume of time played right now than Lard does so of course he will have more total fouls when he's played 10 times more minutes than he has.

The only person in this thread that is turning this into a pissing match is you if you'd take your mouth off of Lard's ass or jock strap long enough to look at things logically like nearly everyone else here is going. It's becoming very obvious you are a huge Lard fan and obviously are looking at things with a bias view because of it. It's been said here time and time again no one here is rooting for Lard to fail, we just haven't seen anything from him yet to justify a big bump in minutes yet. No one is denying he has talent, just based on the small sample size we have seen of him he hasn't done anything yet that you can justify your defense of him. Let the kid figure things out, I'm sure Prohm hopes he does just like everyone else here so he has a reason to give him more minutes.

10 minutes each in alphabetical order.
