I think a nice thing this year is that we discuss our scoring "disappointments" when we score 87 against a live opponent.
I think you can argue he's the best guard at feeding the post.
I still like Dendy and Scott off the bench. Both are at least decent scoring threats. Lucca and Craig/Marquis work well together. I wish we always had Lucca and Brackins on the same side of the floor. Double goes on Brackins, Gilstrap is open on the back if his guy doubles, Lucca is open if his guy doubles. If they let it go, Brackins 1 on 1. I love any of those situations.
I dont buy this bs and never will. If you get offended by some annoymous comments on a message board then you obviously cant handle big time athletics
Exactly. You have to respect Lucca outside. That gave the inside guys open looks. And we won this game handily without him scoring a point.I think a nice thing this year is that we discuss our scoring "disappointments" when we score 87 against a live opponent.
To the OP, the reason people got upset with your post is that you called out one of our players. I don't think we should be saying "so and so sucks!". Lets at least try to post with some logically analysis.
IMO, Lucca is doing what he is being asked to do. He is being asked to spot up and take the open look when it is there. That's his game. That is what he brings to this team.
I think we are seeing that we have 11-12 people (for the first time in a long time) who can play at any time against a lesser opponent. Sometimes these opponents will guard certain people more. I am thinking that coach needs to see who has the hot hand and utilize them for that game. Booze looked good today. Gilstrap was rolling.
When we start to play the tougher teams, let's see what happens for playing time.
Lucca fits in fine. Any discontent about him from the fanbase comes from a perceived inability to improve his offensive game. I saw him drive to the basket today - TWICE, only to watch him kick the ball back out. If he could drive, they would have to respect that part of his game and he would have more space on the outside. Even if he just stopped and popped, they would have to respect him.
Maybe he is working on that part of the game in practice and we as outsiders don't get to see it. But it's sad if he's not. With a complete offensive game, he would be unstoppable and would improve his future earning potential exponentially.
I just don't feel that staiger fits in well with the rest of the teams chemistry. Maybe his game is more suited for the overseas game. That is all
Every team wants a threat from the outside to open up the middle. Our strength is in the middle but that wouldn't be the case without a proven threat.
whether he makes a basket a not, he is a proven shooter that must be respected. don't think defenses aren't aware of that.
Have you ever watched basketball before today? Seriously?
His presence opens up the middle of the floor tremendously for CB and MG to operate and it allows DG to drive much more easily because his man can't help. If we didn't have Lucca teams would play zone on us all day to shut down Brackins and Gilstrap inside. He isn't great on D but he works hard and isn't a liability at all.
lucca can shoot threes better then anyone we have... hes a good asset... they have to stay in his face.
Scotty is just as good, if not better shooting the three than Lucca (check then numbers). Scotty also brings a whole lot more to the table on both ends of the floor. Nothing against Lucca, but Scotty is just better and needs to see more time.

Jake Sullivans Sr year, he shot 38% from 3 and Will Blaylock shot 43%. I'm sure you thought Will Blalock was a better shooter too!

They're just kids who are giving their time for the love of the game (and your entertainment), and the hopes to make something better of themselves. I guess I figure that deserves respect in and of itself.
Well, the differeance between Scotty and Lucca's numbers is more than double that of Sullivan and Blalock, so I would say that is significant. I also know what I see with my eyes and Scotty offers more, so if it was between the two I would lean towards Christopherson. In the same way, Blalock brought more to the table than Sullivan, so if it was between the two and only the two, I would want Will in there.
