Emmanuel Malou? had to forgo due to eligibility issues with the first Prep School he went to. Last I saw he was trying out the G-League, but haven't seen much since.

Edit: beat me to it. I remembered he grew up in Australia, but for some reason I thought he was a Kenya native?
No it was someone else. He never commited. Think Syracuse recruited him. I thought his name had “Diallo” in it but I can’t find him. (Not Cheik)

I am SO happy to find out that Malou landed somewhere. He really was screwed over by the "system" after going to that academy in Des Moines. I have done searches on him and couldn't come up with anything. I thought he should head to the NBL in Australia where they pay around $100k a year. (Malou was born in a refugee camp in Kenya of South Sudanese parentage and grew up in Australia, to answer some of the posts. So he can fairly be considered "African" IMO).

This Samake has a great build and, for a guy who came to BB only a few years ago, his shooting mechanics seem very good. That's often an issue for late adopters in countries where there is not a lot of good coaching available. It'd be great to see him in cardinal-and-gold.

I tip my hat - it takes some guts to make a move like that and leave your family behind.

Fun facts: 1. In Arabic, "Issa" (spellings vary) means "Jesus". While that's not the primary language of Mali, some of the names could come from Arabic and 2. WVU's shot-blocking beast Konate is also from Mali. My mom used to say that you should learn something every day.

I wasn't aware that it was in a refugee camp, that is very interesting. But yeah, I am happy to see him land somewhere as well. It seemed like NBA squads were interested in him, at the very least, last summer league, but he got hurt and sent home within the first couple days. Hopefully he can regain his bball footing and turn some heads.

He does have decent mechanics on his shot. At his length he’d be a fine Ejim “forward” even at 6’7”, but in terms of recruiting profile, he’ll need to add some handling or height.

And he’s got a significantly better support system than a lot of guys coming from similar situations.

Little off topic here, but does anyone recall that 6"11 kid we were recruiting either last year or the year prior. I can't recall his name, but he had come to the States from Africa and everyone kind of thought he had a high potential. I was wondering what he's up to now and where he went.

Cheickna Dembele. He went to UNLV. Doesn't play very much.

Because those schools would be horrible for him academically, considering her moved to the U.S. three years ago and has only been speaking English since then.

With a family support system in place this kid could get an outstanding education at North or Hoover. Anyone that doesn't understand that has no clue as to what DMPS has to offer. You are aware that the top Valley students take no academic classes at Valley right?

His guardian met him in Mali. He was enrolled in a Christian school in TN. He's now at a Christian school here. What has to hit you in the face to understand the guardian was on a missionary trip and his church sponsored him to come over and get a Christian education?

They chose to send Issa to Grand View, because that woman's husband played for Grand Views coach (Stubbs) years ago at Des Moines Christian.

I really liked that video. Great story and Issa seems to be great kid. Hopefully he is on a good AAU team for the summer. I could see his game really improve with the right situation.

I'm not aware of everything DMPS has to offer, but placing Issa in the same category as the top Valley students isn't fair.

I know that you can take advance classes at any school. As described in the video though, Issa takes three times the amount of time as other students to do work, because he is new to the language. With a much better student to teacher ratio, a school like Grand View Christian can give him the extra help he needs to keep pace.

Nice job being a tool though.

Better watch out for Jamie Dixon coming to steal this guy away from us then.

The guy who didn't read the article did a better job of knowing the facts than you orignally did. Unfortunately, your tremendous credibility took a hit in some of your adoring fans eyes.

What facts about the story did I get wrong, the fact that he's a 2019 recruit or that we offered him?

Sounds like you're triggered. You need a tissue?

So Dandy was completely right about him being 2019 instead of 2018 and it took you getting corrected by 5 posters in about 5 minutes to then have the same comprehension skills as someone who didn't read the article?
