American & United already go to Chicago daily, so might as well hit a market that's not serviced.

My guess is SWA didn't like the terms / cost.

Random question semi related. What websites do you guys use to book flights? Or does it really matter as the couple I've tried are showing the same rates.

It's been a long time since I've recreationally flown anything other than Allegiant out of DSM and I just go through their website.

I use Southwest.com the most since you cannot purchase their flights anywhere else, they go where I want to go, and I can board early to choose where I want to sit every time. I will use Travelocity, Orbitz, or Expedia when I'm not happy with times or prices on SWA so I can see what other airlines are offering. I use Allegiant's site if the price is so cheap that it offsets all the nickel and diming they do to you. Sometimes I'll look at Frontier, but only in the summer months cuz I don't trust Denver weather in the winter.

Good advice. Yeah I'm looking at going to Denver. The prices are crap when I want to go, but I don't feel like driving and am in my 30s and don't mind spending money to fly...however want it to be reasonable. I'll check back the next few weeks before booking as I know prices change or they add flights ect.

Wow. I totally read that wrong. I thought Southwest was eliminating Midway all together.

Tried about 10 different sites and they all offer about the same rates. I'll keep checking every few days as I'm not in a hurry to book.

Yeah - one note on this. I always use this or google.com/flights, but then ALWAYS book through the airline's site. There shouldn't ever really be a difference in price and you get more assurance from booking directly, IMO. Some airlines, if booked via third parties, don't treat the customer the same or follow the same policies all the time.

The only time that the other sites may be cheaper is if you are combining air+hotel or car. YMMV.
