I have one foot on the wagon. Cysbball, convince me that he won't he leave us high and dry for an SEC job in 3 years, and I might be closer to jumping on...

I'm don't want to prejudge any of the candidates, but of the coordinators that I've heard mentioned the one I like is Brent Veneables. He's young, successful, familiar with the big XII, played at KSU, born in Kansas so he'd be man enough to handle some cold weather, and he would be familiar with recruiting in the Big XII.

I have a positive gut feeling about BV.

hes deserving of a look... been the co-coordinator of that OU defense since 1999! thats a long time for that

If Strong leaves Dan would more than likely get the DC job at Florida.

Most of that is attibuted to some very young players growing up a bit...

Oh, OK - I'm just going by what a lot of the players say about Mac's impact. Geesh - give the guy some credit. He's a great defensive coach.

I am on the Patterson wagon, but I do see the Strong wagon very nearby. :)
Im with you 22! Patterson would be my first choice, but i think Strong is much closer to reality.... but the way JP can sell ****! damn, maybe we can steal Patterson

He has been a finalist yet not really considered for a ton of head jobs the last 10 years, unlike Chizik who only really became a candidate a couple of years ago. I'm sure he would love a change to stick it to all of those who doubted him... I really think there may only be three jobs in the country he would leave his first real opportunity for... I'll take those odds....

I know this may sound strange, coming from left field, etc. But the idea just came to me....a way to get Patterson...

I agree, that's why I think he would get the DC job if Strong leaves...

Believe me, I'm the biggest Gator fan on here and probably in the state... I know what he has done for that team...

His 38th birthday is Dec. 18th. I can think of a nice birthday present for him and ISU. FYI he was one of the candidates for the Clemson job.

I'd love this, but I don't think Pollard could make that move. And I know if Strong got the job, the hires would be his - but probably a bad idea.

But if people were able to ignore that Dan coached here before (impossible, but lets to to fantasy land), he'd be awesome. His track record as a assistant is well documented.

Oh...ha...my bad. See, I'm just dreaming of a land in when we could have Dan as our DC (because he'd be very good at it).

I agree with you though, chances are good Dan would fill that spot if/when Strong leaves.

After reading his bio, etc, I would put him pretty high on the list. As of now, behind Patterson and Peterson, and about even w/Graham, Jag, Bailiff, Stoops, and Cubit. That being said, right there are 8 guys that haven't been ruled out, who I would be happy with. I will say that Strong is definitely the best coordinator thats been thrown around (Venables would be the next, imo).

So do you think Dan the Man is able to clap up and down the sideline MORE down in Florida since his hands aren't so cold?

I've always seen Charlie Strong mentioned in various coaching searches, but he stays at Florida. Is there a reason for that?
Also, one of the knocks on Chizik (at least from Paul Clark) is that he built his rep on talented players. Isn't this the same situation with Strong? He has coached defense at three schools: Florida (for the most part), Notre Dame, and South Carolina. That's a lot of talent...
