STATEMENT FROM LUCCA STAIGER

Wow... this blows. Hopefully Scotty can step right in. Lucca sucked at everything besides the 3 anyways.

Totally selfish move to quit on the team in the middle of the season. I don't think I'll hate him for it, b/c he was only here to get exposure for a shot at the NBA. He's not NBA caliber and got a chance to follow his dream to a lesser extent in his home country. If Boozer hadn't gone down this wouldn't even be much of a loss IMO. Christopherson and Boozer are much better all around team players.
At least he's chasing his dream job and not just shi***g on us to go play for Syracuse. I root for a career ending injury every time I see WJ's face on ESPN.

USA Div1 basketball>>> Euro pro ball

I sure am going to miss watching Lucca get taken off the dribble.........

Funny, it seems that a lot of the people that say Lucca needs to learn some loyalty and is a quitter are the same people that declared they were giving up on this team...

Why does this not surprise me?

BINGO........

The life of an anonymous message board poster is a fickle one.

You all realize he will probably go to Europe, play his way into the NBA, and be an all star someday right? It would be our luck.

Nice! Haha!

I remember when Tyrone McKenzie "quit" the football team and transferred to USF because his mom was sick. He still quit the team. Noone gave him the 3rd degree for it.

If Lucca feels he needs to make a decision now or risk losing out on a career in professional basketball back home which is on the other side of the freaking world then he should be given the same courtesy. It's a life decision.

McKenzie quit AFTER the season, when a new coach was taking over, and his mother was seriously ill. This is totally different than what Staiger did. No comparison WHATSOEVER. There are good ways, and reasons to leave a team. Tyrone McKenzie and Jeremiah Schwartz are great examples of this.

lucca, you are a quitter, a piece of ****, a tool, a d-bag, etc... You don't quit in the middle of the season. If you weren't going to stay the entire year, you shouldn't have come back to ISU. Hopefully the guys will rally together and whip up on the red raiders.

excellent points.

No Clonefan, a real team player would forgo any opportunities for advancement so his co-workers don't get upset. I mean, what kind of team player would do such a thing? :jimlad:

So, temperflare, you didn't have any issues with Chisick leaving us for Auburn last year? OK. Glad I got that straight. Thanks. I understand your perspective better now. You are the one that would embrace Wesley Johnson if Syracuse came to play in Hilton. You are the one that gave Haluska a great big kiss on the cheek when the pukeyes came into Hilton. You are probably a big Sarah Palin supporter as well. A better opportunity came to her rather than being the elected leader of Alaska.

Sounds like you have quit on folks that counted on you in the past and you are trying to validate that decision. Got it now.

Damn it!! Chizzed again!!!

Basketball is more than a college sport, it's a business.

I'll go even further to say, D1 FB & MBB are semi-pro, minor league systems for semi-literate Jocks to exploit for their own personal pursuits. Student-Athlete ?#?@ What a farce!

We spent a lotta money on Lucca for the 1-1/2 years we got outta him.

I have never declared that I was giving up on this team. Lucca needs to learn some loyalty. Lucca is absolutely a quitter. That's what he became the moment he quit.

I've defended the guy a billion times, but I won't defend this crap.

And he was injured for one of those years, and as he says, "Wasn't able to play to my potential." This one wasn't much of a bargain for us.

I gotta say, after watching the game on Saturday it looked to me like the ship was sailing much better (winning ugly is better than losing pretty) here's hoping you can get a huge road W tonight and than find a way to parlay some magic for Saturday.

Touche! We sure won't miss his "Defense"! Mac has been trying to make Lucca understand he needs to play the whole game, not just be a shooter. This year is just another step forward, then two steps back... but Cyclone Nation will overcome. Earle Bruce had similar situations in FB and Coach Mac #1 did also. They pursevered and went on to greener pastures as well. Let Lucca go to the tune of "The Sound of Music" and support Cyclone Nation!

That's a little extreme, you've never left a company for another position or been promoted?

Whether that fits here is debatable of course, but your flinging muck around in a way to say that you should NEVER make a change.
