I'm dissapointed and a little upset as well. I think you can feel that way and still refrain from calling out players in these threads. I mean these kids are playing without a full deck. They are asked to do things that normally they wouldn't be asked to do. I think the team has stayed positive and played hard. That's all I can ask for. No doubt losing still sucks.

Agreed. This team has several areas they need to work on but there is no reason to get down on them. They play hard and do their best to compete. I have been really impressed with how some guys are starting to step up like Godfrey. He is a bit undersized but he plays like a wild man down in the post. His effort level is second to none on the team. He is going to be a good one in the future as he seems to really be finding his niche on this team. Bubu has found a way to contribute on both ends of the floor as well... he had a great game against Okie State, got to the FT line and hit a couple of huge FT's in the closing seconds of regulation to push the lead from 1 to 3. That is clutch play from a kid that is seeing his first action at the college level.

Is this an NCAA Tournament team? No. Is this an NIT team? Maybe? Any success that this team has this season is a bonus. I see a group of players that are developing their games and will have great value to this team in the future, some as starters and some as role players for next year when we add quite a bit of talent. The playing time these kids are getting will prove to be invaluable come next season because there won't be a single kid on the bench that will get put into a game in any situation that won't have experience. Not many teams will have that luxury.

Well said Cyclonestate78 and Clones85. Dissappointing loss, but Tech is a senior laden team that played well last night. They were picked to finish in the middle of the conference and we were picked dead last by the coaches. Maybe they know a little more than some of our expert fans.

We were not outpowered last night. TT went small and rarely went to their bench. Our half court offense is not good and we couldn't take advantage of obvious physical mismatches in which we were the bigger guy for a change. then we were outrebounded by smaller more aggressive guys.

Agree that we weren't overpowered, yet about 1/2 their points came in the paint, even with a small lineup. We couldn't stop dribble penetration and played zero help defense.

We may not have been overpowered, but we had to guard Singletary with a guy 4 inches shorter than him or freshmen, and he destroyed us inside. Tech also had it going outside, and they start 5 seniors with a ton of Big 12 experience. As poorly as we shot outside, it could have been worse.

Well Boys this team has probably already won way more games this year than it had a right to win, when you look at the talent on the floor.

Freddie is doing a great job with a team with little talent and if you think this is bad you should have been around for the 4 win season of Glen Anderson or the 7 win season of Ken Trickey.

This season isnt all that bad and Im ready to look forward to a brighter future of WINNING IOWA STATE BASKETBALL...

All you naysayers need to get behind Freddie Ball....

I think this gets far to overblown. Yes, we are thin. But DG, JVB, Scotty, Anderson, and Ejim are talented players. What Anderson lacks in talent, he makes up for in leadership and hustle. Yeah, we arent Kansas. Or Texas. Or alot of other talent-laden D1 schools. But blaming the OKie St debacle or that performance last night on "lack of talent" is making excuses. I'm not buying it.

Last night was not a lack of talent issue and people continually underssell the talent that we have. Last night was an effort and dare I say coaching issue.

Okay since we have so much talent, tell me all the conference teams we will beat up on the rest of the season.

Like I said the naysayers need to get behind freddieball and stop bellyaching.

What are you talking about? Whenever we lose it's Mac's fault. Didn't you get the memo?

To be fair... McDoormat did take a huge dump in a brown paper bag, then set it on fire just outside the doors at Hilton before ringing the doorbell and running to Creighton.

CFH and staff have done a great job but they still have some **** on their shoes from putting out the McDoormat fire.

Come on Iowa State fans. We are better than this. Tonights game was tough (unlike our defense) but this was to be expected. We are playing 7 guys, 2 of which are freshmen, and 1 of which is a walk on. We are going to have some growing pains.

But the direction of the program has not looked this promising in a long time. Let's refrain from calling out TRUE freshmen who are forced into roles that are not their strengths. Freshmen who in the future will be very good when they are put in the spots that show their skills and make them successful. Let's refrain from calling out the players who are busting their tails out there. Because they are. These guys are playing 30 to 35 minutes a game, every game, and they are going up against guys who are bigger and more mature than they are.

Stay positive, don't jump off the ledge on this loss. This season is already 1,000X better than any of us thought it would be going in. Just sit back and appreciate the job that these kids and this staff is doing. They are playing HARD and busting their butts.

You know what is driving me nuts? The people that leave the game with 10 minutes left in the 2nd half. Are you kidding me? Do you leave a movie right when it starts getting interesting? Have to get home for the 4th showing of your favorite 'Two and Half Men' episode?

And then to top it off, about the time we got back to 5 points down in the 2nd half the guy sitting behind me pipes in to his friend 'in the past, this is were the crowd would will the team to victory.' Then he proceeds to ask me to sit down about 30 seconds later. This is the second time this season they've asked us to sit down.

And yes...asking me to sit down only makes me stand up longer...

So what...JVB had a guy on him that was 8 inches shorter. How well did JVB do last night? WE were out hustled last night and that is it. Fred has said as much and people claiming otherwise are making excuses.

I am not a naysayer and am in fact a Fred fan. That is why I listen to him when he speaks of the talent our players have. He thinks DG is a NBA caliber player. He thinks Scotty and JVB are great shooters and he thinks Ejim is talented but young. Guess what...erase the names and you just described every Big 12 team except KU and Texas. That means you have to win at home and when you have a chance to win on the road you have to do it. For someone that is a such a Freddi fan, you sure don't pay attention to what he says very much. Guess what. Freddie stated it was a lack of effort.

Went to the Coach Talks thing at the MU.

Fred still calls it a lack of effort. He was politely absolutely unthrilled. Said he watched the game tape twice last night, and did not like what he saw.

It's a little negative, but I feel free throwing it out there

Wow... who would have thought that the coach thinks it was a poor effort. Hmmm. now I am torn... If I say it was poor effort then I am a naysayer/not a fan of Fred...But if I disagree with Fred then I am a fan of Fred. I don't see the logic in that.

Really, the people that claim lack of talent and that every win is due to Fred are not being realistic. There is some talent on this team and we should not lose to TT in Hilton.

I think the guys may still be stunned by what happened last week in Stillwater. That was a crusher. Believe this team makes a wave or two before it's over.

We've got so much talent we were picked to finish dead last by the coaches. We start two players getting their first Big 12 experience and have a short bench with only freshmen. We have nobody to go to inside and nobody that can stop an opposing big man. Yes we're well equipped to win big 12 games.
