Have to give credit where credit is due, and Prohm deserves some credit

Now you've done it. You should know as a Staff Member, Bookie and Superfanatic that no.....never, absolutely not is the word credit and Prohm to be uttered in the same breath when talking of things Iowa State. Not even "some".

But back to topic at hand........this was all TJ this year. I'm not going to diminish what TJ did by doing what the local yocals did with Prohm. I could. They don't win 22 without Hunter. But what's the point? I don't hate TJ........I hope he wins 25 next year with anyone's players. It's ISU......right? Some just can't flush their system of this cult of personality contest that seems baked in.

Their disdain for the guy is almost a religion. It's sad.

Hunter had a signed LOI with Iowa State. There was already a bond established between him and the program, and like it or not, Prohm's regime established that bond. Put it this way, if Prohm hadn't recruited Hunter at all, what's the chance that he would be an Iowa State Cyclone today?
Is there any chance? Slim at best, right? At best.
Have to give credit where credit is due, and Prohm deserves some credit for signing Hunter. Not all of it, mind you. But without Prohm, there's very little chance that Hunter is wearing Cardinal and Gold this year.
True

I wonder if Tre Jackson, Jaden Walker and Zion Griffin all end up at Murray with Prohm.
Honestly, that might not be a bad group to start with there.
Noticed Zion was in the portal again. I'm not sure any of those guys really move the needle for Prohm at Murray. They could all be complementary pieces, but he's gonna need better players than them to be competitive I think. The poor guy is going from a talent depleted/player depleted roster in his last year at Iowa State to almost the exact same situation for his first year at Murray St. It's kind of a shame, he probably took just enough time off between jobs that the black started coming back in his hair

I'm rooting for him. With their roster as bare as it is, it would be a really smart move to bring in a Jackson and Walker. At least he knows what he's getting, even if they're not starters. He needs to hit some singles before swinging for some bigger players. It's actually going to be pretty fun seeing Prohm come up to coach against UNI and Drake.

My only thoughts on this pertain to Jackson and Walker. 2020-21 probably has left a bad taste in both of their mouths. Would they sign on to play for a guy that was more or less responsible for that? I would certainly have hesitations if it were me.

Jackson and Walker can absolutely be MVC starters (or at the very least main rotation guys). You probably get into trouble if you need either one to be your first or second offensive option.
That said, you make it pretty hard for them both to be on the floor at the same time (starters)

Not sure how Blackwell did this year but Nunn had a pretty nice freshman season. I think Nunn is at a similar level school to Murray though.

There are currently two players on the Murray State Active Roster.

Good Luck Steve. My sympathy requires at least 3 wins.

Curious to see if there are things Prohm learned via experience at ISU and how he applies it at Murray. You'd think being thrown into P6 ringer would have value when returning to mid-major. Probably no way to quantify that sort of thing, but I imagine McDermott learned a thing or two he was able to take back to then-MVC level.

McD's playbook is way different than his ISU one. That McD arc ball weave drove me nuts. His players now have a lot more freedom of movement.

I hate to keep piling on but watch me power thru it.

He didn't learn **** here that made him a better or smarter coach his last couple years. It was the same glaring weaknesses over and over. I kept hoping to see improvement and it just never happened.
