I'll say it... I hope he fails. Bad coach whose only success was contingent on elite talent that he mostly inherited. He doesn't deserve a HC job at the D1 level. Had it not been for the amazing coaching job by TJ and the effort of the guys this year we could have been looking at several years of rebuilding to a respectable program from where Prohm left us as the worst team in P5.

But apparently he's a good guy though, and that excuses him for getting paid millions of dollars to ruin our basketball program.
Obviously, he didn't ruin the program. If he did, TJ wouldn't have been able to get the players to turn it around in year 1.

Also, I can't imagine having this much spite for someone that brought us Tyrese Haliburton and Tyrese Hunter (TJ wouldn't have had the chance to re-recruit him if Prohm hadn't gotten him to commit originally)

I appreciate this pro-ISU stance. I'm not hoping for Prohm to fail as retribution like you, but I love the passion and anger. ISU MBB is no doubt a big part of many here, and it's natural to be pissed at the guy that led it to 2-22.

If he fails and we can further add to the evidence that the 2-22 was because of how bad he was as a coach is, good.

Imagine being this petty.
That because he wasn't successful as coach of your favorite team, you believe he deserves to fail everywhere else as well. Unless Steve Prohm personally dedicated every single loss to you, or was leaving flaming bags of dog poop on your front step, get a life.
A flaming bag of dog poop would've been more welcome than a 0-16 Conference record.

I believe it was satire- a mod on sports message board telling a poster to get a life and not be petty because the poster cared too much about MBB.

You seem pretty cool.

Caring about ISU basketball and wishing former coaches will go on to failure do not overlap on a Venn diagram. If wishing ill on our former coaches is what constitutes being a passionate Iowa State fan, then I guess I'm not as big of a fan as I thought I was.

To me, it just sounds spiteful and pathetic.

Oh, the hypocrisy. There's plenty of Hoiberg hate on here.

For those who would disagree, for humor sake, I'd love to see what they do consider spiteful and pathetic.

And I have said the same thing to the folks who are unable stop being bitter about that. And I have said the same thing about the people who are still upset about McDermott. So, no there isn't any hypocrisy on my part. I'm consistent.

Seriously, just let it go. Show me on the doll, where Steve Prohm touched you

Don't worry, child, that big bad man isn't the coach here anymore. He can't hurt you with his coaching anymore. You're safe. Shhhh... Shhhh...

I get it. And I'll admit I was rooting against Hoiberg at NU at first. Now I can't decide whether I want him to win or just don't care either way. But, I'll root for Prohm a little. Mostly because he's at a lower level and our recruiting is not likely to cross paths with his much.

I don't think he's a great coach. He squandered the talent of one of ISU's best teams. He had one really good recruiting class and then couldn't recover when a couple of guys declared early. But he was a stand up guy and by most accounts loved ISU. I just don't think that he was cut out for this level. That said, if he has some former ISU guys on staff and maybe grabs a few of our players in the portal, I'll root for them and watch whenever I have the chance. I always thought that him recruiting the South was a bad idea at ISU. But his connections there should be an asset at Murray.

"Sure, I hope that he fails in all of his future endeavors. And I pray every night that he breaks out in shingles. And I'm considering going to his house at night, tearing up his garden, and salting the earth so nothing will ever grow there again.... But I will not...I repeat... I will NOT poison his cat! That's where I draw the line! I mean, it's just basketball. Don't want to overreact.
