If we are going to introduce a coach Saturday at the bball game, Geoffrey needs to be on that plane today. If it is the Las Vegas Classic or Poinsetta Bowl, Geoffrey needs to be at the game next week.Where is Waldo?

Except our AD doesn't have a sac and won't listen to want the fans/boosters want

Its playing out that if Stoops is entertaining a move or using this as leverage, he can go his merry way.

He is liked as a citizen, but as a coach many WILDCATS faithful want him gone.

I think the rumor of a possible introduction at the basketball game is out the door.

Unless something blow-ups, Stoops is in. Fact, he is already trying to put together a staff. I know I'll have my doubters, but time will tell.

Please be wrong

There will be a blow-up, or rather a meltdown if this is true. If Stoops is the coach, JP must have missed on his top 5 to 6 coaches, and went with what he views as a "safe" pick. I would have preferred a riskier candidate.

Why would Stoops be 5th or 6th on JP's list? There's a lot of plusses with Stoops and I would have him 3rd after Patterson and Gill. I would not be enthused about an older coach looking to haul in some extra millions to coast into the sunset.

So we have been here the last week, and all we keep hearing is we need a head coach, not a oc or dc and there is now talk of hiring a hc (stoops) and we are throwing a fit, Whomever it is I will support the Cyclones!

Part of the problem is that most of us think we can do better than Stoops. The other problem that I have, is Stoops has shown that he can rebuild a program to bowl eligibility and thats all.

Most of us think that with the right coach, we could be bowling next year. We need someone that can take us from bowl eligible team to a conference contender. Stoops hasn't shown he can do that, but some of the other names that have been mentioned have.

IMO:

Stoops was a plan by hawkeye faithful to bring his name up for a couple of reasons:

  1. Easy show prep, spread rumors.
  2. Increase radio listeners.
  3. Create a stir on the Interwebs from said radio.
  4. Create a need for Stoops to be paid more (a hawk looking out for a hawk) by radio.

You saying Jon Miller is Marty's "source"? Nobody said it was a ISU donor? Maybe JM said I have a big ISU boner and Marty thought he said donor.

Obviously just my opinion but I think we only go after Stoops if we could not get:
1. Patterson
2. Gill
3. Air Force HC
4. Cubit at West. Mich.
5. Wilson (OC at OK)
6. L. Tech HC
7. Hill
I would even through in coaches like Fullmer and Barrnett on the same level as Stoops.

I think that JP already has his man, or is very close to it, and he may have let the Stoops idea leak to a) throw the media off and b) make the new hire seem like a good hire.

JP has been know to use such tactics to his advantage before (not saying he arranges it). Think for a minute. No one is a big fan of Mike Stoops and JP will be looking for someone who can not only coach, but also create some buzz.

Stoops doesn't fit that, but there are a number of coaches being considered that do. Gill was a fan favorite but was quickly eliminated. Anything immediately following Gill's announcement would have been viewed as settling, but now that we have flirted with hiring Stoops, there are a number of names I can think of that would be viewed as a step up.

Nonsense.

The later. Not through ISU people, but a coach he asked to be part of his staff. One thing I have learned though is... is it literally ain't over until it's over. JP, could easily pull it if someone "better" comes along, or if MS gets called to the carpet before tomorrow's game. DI football is crazy how things happens!!! Plan on Chuck Long as OC too. DC will be his bro, not Elliot, from what I am hearing.
