At least those high donors with Johnnys passes go back to their seats when the game starts. The way nobody even sits in the seats during the football games is a huge problem to me. If the SEZ folks aren’t going to sit in the EZ seats then let those people have a hillside pass with a SEZ wristband and let them stay in the club the whole time. And let students and band sit in the actual EZ seats. And by “selling them”. Im talking about through cyclone club
You can wish in one hand and crap in the other.

I actually think its more realistic than you think. Not all the SEZ folks are big donors. Its open to Cardinal and higher. They end up paying their donation and then pay extra for seats they don't even use. Make it a poll if you like. ask any SEZ club member if they would prefer to pay $400 per club pass only ($999-$599 ticket difference) and then allow them to buy either normal seats like everyone else in their level for their other $599. Or let them do $275 and have upper corner seats. Or let them do $200 for hillside/GA meaning they just stay in the club basically. I promise you that not many would prefer to stay at the $999 price and sit in the EZ. Lots would take the $600 club only

Put a second deck on the club and they can lounge up there or venture to the corners. Would need to raise the scoreboard just a smidge.

As a student, the new student section sucks. And I’m not even talking about the location, which is clearly worse. The separation from the band is noticeable. The Cowbell cheer is dead. Students can’t hear the band enough to do the first down chant or even clap along to the fight song. Atmosphere has taken a huge step down this season.
I sat in those seats since the SEZ was built and in the same area for years before that. We could hear the band and the first down chant and participated in both.

Its not TOO bad when the winds are light. Windy days it just messes up the sound horribly and its dreadful.

And that's the deal with sound -- it's just vibrating air, and can be affected by seemingly innocuous things like direction, hard/soft surfaces, temperature, and wind.

@ChrisMWilliams mentioned in a podcast that the move might not have been entirely up to ISU, and that the conference may have encouraged it due to past incidents between fans and the opposing teams while trying to get off the field.
It would be good if the source had accurate information.

And yet the students are still great.

We've been very surprised the minimum donation has stayed at $750. It will be interesting to see if that continues or if they will increase the minimum donation and, if they do, how many will move? Part of me hopes they do - we'd like to move our SEZ seats to a higher row.

I've heard people make the argument that "the people complaining about the student section being quieter probably used to be closer to them than they are now". I sit near the 50 yard line on the west side which would put me about equidistant between the two locations. The old student section seemed much louder and had a much larger presence. I've forgotten we have a student section multiple times this year because they are shoved away in the corner. It makes a huge impact in my opinion.

The reason the Cyclone Power chant has died is because nobody at ISU knows how to coordinate a pregame environment. I've noticed that the band and cheer squad are still attempting to coordinate the chant this season... while they simultaneously drown out any ability to hear with blasting noise from the scoreboard. It's completely killed the chant.

It really doesn't need to be this hard. Less is more (see VT pregame). But we cram so much nonsense and a dozen different entrance songs into the pregame, it's a total cluster.

The Cyclone Power chant is really cool in that stadium, but it can't compete with earsplitting noise from the scoreboard.
Just a reminder to everyone that the athletics website has a gameday fan feedback section. If this issue gets raised to their attention by enough people, maybe changes can be made to fix the problem.

cyclone power isn't gone, they tried it at the baylor game. unfortunately they did it right when they played the intro video/music for the team to come out. Cyclone power is right after the band plays.

I think it would be best to put the students on the west side on the flip side they were last year. This way they can cheer when the team runs out and close to the band still. Plus we need the noise on the open side of the stadium.

They raised the ticket price though. It seemed like there were a few openings this year so I question if they raise it much.

The regular crowd needs to do more and play along with the band chants. Home games in Jack Trice only happen 7 times a year at home. Get loud and play along get off yo butts.

The poor band is all alone now with no one to play with.

And how much is the conference really paying us to move the student sections? If it's not hundreds of thousands it's not worth it. Get better security if you think it's that big of a deal.

A few, yes. We have a group of 4. We moved into SEZ when they increased the ticket price thinking that would help our chances. We also increased our donation level above the minimum that year so we could help ensure getting seats. We stayed in that donation level hoping this year we could move a few rows back/higher up. No such luck. We’re taking about trying it again one more year and then deciding if we stay at that donor level for the parking or go to the minimum $750 level.

To further pile on the sound system, it is so loud and distorted I can't talk to the people next to me without yelling over the constant stream of ads and disjointed music selection. I'm in my 30s, can't imagine the experience for older folks.

Last, the TJ Tampa "make some noise" clip is insanely distorted.

Yeah, these are really unintelligible and have been basically forever. They need to keep that part short and scripted - like a "let's gooooooooooooooooooo" type of yell or something, because it's a mess.
