I don't really like the visitors section in 41 right next to the hill. I feel like that might cause issues in the future with kids running around on them, but it's also probably the best spot for them.
That's the small section that has been used for visitors and their band. So the greasy hok band will be down in that corner, should be easier for them to find their way out from now on. We will still have those couple of sections for visitors on the southwest corner.

The letter says students will queue up on the pedestrian bridge (this potentially blocks wheelchair access from those east of the stadium). Students will not use the south entrance.
Letter:
"The new student seating location allows student entry to remain at Gate 2, where students can access the new pedestrian bridge as a queuing area prior to entering the stadium."

Website:
"Students will need to line up on the newly constructed sidewalk which leads up to Gate 2."

So, they can use the ped bridge as a method to reach the queue on the new external NE walkway.

Yep, letter says allows and can, not must. Not sure where on the website it addresses this, but does the bolded part require entrance at gate 2?
We've had tickets in the SEZ since it opened and used to walk around the stadium on the east to the south gate. Last year figured out it's easier and takes less time to go in the north and walk up the ramp to the west.

All students entering MidAmerican Energy Field at Jack Trice Stadium will be required to follow the entry policy below:
  1. Students will need to line up on the newly constructed sidewalk which leads up to Gate 2 - Additional information will be shared prior to the season
  2. Plan to arrive and enter the stadium with the individuals you wish to sit with
  3. Student tickets will only be accepted at Gate 2 (located on the east side of Jack Trice Stadium) [emphasis added]
  4. Student entry is scheduled to begin 2 hours prior to kick-off
  5. Must present a valid student ticket to be scanned for admission +Student Account Manager Guide
  6. Student seating in sections: 23-27 & O-T

1) I am (I was) section 27. :(
2) Makes me a bit concerned for field rushes and possible 'crush' situations with a natural funnel headed towards the field. Especially considering the corner sections have a wall on each side.
3) How the heck does the visiting team continue to get lower level seats. Mind boggling really.
4) I really hope I'm not across the aisle from the visiting fans (ie: band) anymore. That crap is loud.

Thanks, I just saw the news and hadn't had time to search online. I still think it might not work as smoothly as hoped, at least at first.

Putting the visiting team in 41 is really ******* dumb. Why the hell would you give them that spot. That’s exactly where they would want to be. Put them up in the back half of N. They can scalp their way if they want better seats.
Wait, does that mean hillside has front row view of the Tech cheerleaders?

Hope the structural engineer was informed of this usage, a tightly packed rocking mass of pedestrians, waiting to run to their seats.

You realize that campus is west of the stadium, right? Students typically head back to the campustown area after games, not the lots.

As someone who exits through the S-lots, which have become a standstill after games with the change in traffic management the last year or two, I have enough personal experience to know that isn't true. A ton of students are parked in those lots and crossing at that intersection.

This is really disappointing. The atmosphere on the north end was great. We rarely sat there except when using a relatives tickets in lower bowl of NW part of stadium. Place seemed perfect for their little kids. Can watch the band, dance team, student antics, players, cheerleaders, etc.

We are in SW upper corner. Seems like they should give us a shot at moving if they put the freaking, lying, whiny Hawk band near us. We finally joined Cyclone Club after making our last student activity payment this spring nearly 11 years after our first one of the kids started at ISU.

It still seems odd to be making this decision this late in the game.
I am wondering if they are seeing things with the donor level shifts and the ticket sales that they really need increased seating in particular donor levels that the students were currently taking. And using the "saftey" issue of the last couple years out of the conference was considered good timing to get it done.

At some point it may be about capacity, but currently when almost 1/4 of certain donor levels were occupied by students and some of those levels have the highest number of donors, it probably was unsustainable. We either had to add more sections by expanding, something that costs and takes years, or just shift the students to non-donor seats, until an expansion is an absolute necessity and can be done.

Let's hope to god they don't put visitor bands up there. Yikes!

They were going to use the bridge regardless if the student section got moved or not so they could go get their cars.... It's not an alumni-use only bridge. If anything, the concourses will be packed from students trying to go from that corner all the way to the north gate like they have been for the last few decades.

You move the students to cheaper seats.

You beef up the south end zone and can make that end of the stadium louder and more antimidating.

You get away from students and opposing players crossing paths in a field rush.

Sounds like a good move to me.
