Does this mean that Ego Ferguson is an "NFL goldenboy" since his stomping from a Lion was worth a suspension?

I'm not sure I understand the punishment he ended up with. Apparently since he was without a fine or suspension for 32 games he was no longer a repeat offender, and the guy that handled the appeal said he didn't think he intended to injure Rodgers, but he still gets a $70,000 fine? For a "first time offender" that "didn't mean to step on someone"? How does that work?

What a joke. They didn't take past incidents into account because he went 32 consecutive games without incident? He's a dirty player, and what goes around comes around.

I knew deep down the NFL would cave on the suspension and just give him another fine. The league is totally Keystone Cops when it comes to handling discipline...they are terrible

From the link:

Despite the excuse and the reduction of the punishment to just a fine, an NFL spokesperson told Business Insider that "Suh's actions were determined to be a serious violation of our rules."
The spokesperson went on to explain that both Vice President of Football Operations Merton Hanks, who handed down the initial discipline, and those that heard the appeal, rejected Suh's explanation. Those two only differed on the level of discipline. Former NFL coach Ted Cottrell, who heard the appeal, decided the punishment should just be a $70,000 fine and not a suspension.

Suh's hits on QB's have been much worse over the years, and he has been penalized by small fines. Stepping on Rodgers was perhaps the softest of his dirty plays, and he gets suspended for a playoff game. You will have a hard time convincing me that the QB he stepped on didn't have something to do with the stiff penalty.

Once again, this is coming from someone who will be cheering for Romo and the Cowboys, so I'm very happy Suh isn't playing against them.

Penalties by Suh over the years:

2010
Suh rips Delhommes head off - $7,500
Suh forearm punches Cutler to the head - $15,000

2011
Suh body slams Dalton - Fined $20,000

2012
Suh kicks Schaub in the man parts - Fined $30,000

2013
Suh helmet to the chest of Weeden - $31,500

2014
1 1/2 years after his last fine/penalty
Steps on the leg of Rodgers - Suspended for a playoff game

I'm behind on this thread here so someone may have corrected this already, but you left off Suh stomping on the Packer's center on Thanksgiving.

If you read the link you would learn that he was just past the number of games elapsing so he is no longer considered a habitual offender so his history was not part of the equation. The person hearing the appeal only took this incident into account, not his history.

Well aware. The NFL was just shown to be over the top on this one.

The NFL just cannot seem to ever get a punishment correct, can they?

They hand out a 1 game suspension when they should have known about the rule about going 32 games without an incident. But then, they still hand out a really steep fine of 70k, even though they aren't supposed to take into account his previous transgressions since they happened too long ago.

The NFL just can't help but trip over themselves on these simple matters.

Roger and the boys have probably instructed the officials for the playoff game to watch Suh vey closely. They don't like losing.
I can see a 'hands to the face' penalty coming rather quickly.
