Surprised by how much more talent has than us

Below are composite recruiting class rankings for UI and ISU over the last 5 years. Of course, recruiting class rankings are not a sure-fire indicator of talent level, but I do find these rankings interesting:

YR-UI-ISU
2015-59-68
2014-59-58
2013-58-60
2012-40-67
2011-27-59

ISU has remained relatively constant (towards the bottom of Power 5), but UI took a pretty big drop about three years ago. If Iowa redshirted some players during 2011 and 2012, from a talent perspective, Kirk's starters might not be too shabby this year.

In any case, the Big 12 conference schedule is likely going to again put ISU's recruiting woes on display...

The last 7 don't count. The game was over after Richardson's pick.

And our defense gave up that first TD of the third quarter, forced a 3-and-out, forced another punt, forced a turnover, and our offense did nothing with it. Our defense was great today. A few big plays and a lack of offense killed us.

The defense was okay. They allowed a bunch of yard but they made a bunch of plays. A lot of those yards were off things completely manufactured by Beathard. I'll eat my words on him.

This game was lost when Floyd went out. Tucker mattered too, no doubt but I was really impressed by our interior and really our Dline as a whole. Iowa was to as they started running everything outside. I think this defense will be okay. They gave up the ghost on the last drive so there were 24 legitimate points and I can handle that.

What I can't handle is this offense and two things really bothered me quite a bit. First is the Oline. They aren't very good in any aspect. Again, good things were made by SR and the WRs. Both TDs were perfect throws combined with great plays on the other end. When you have to operate with that precision at all times, it's not good. The other thing was the fact that Iowa didn't have an answer for the middle of the field all game. They had no one to check Daley or Wesley in the slot and yet we seldom went there after halftime. I haven't watched again so I don't know what kind of combination of scheme and execution made that happen but it didn't. When you can't run the ball you have to be able to throw short and intermediate stuff in the middle. If you can't do either, you're ****ed.

Vandeberg is not a walk-on

the only walk-on was #52 the starting LT

ISU has decent WRs, especially Lazard but lacks depth on both interior lines and LBs. Iowa lost their best defensive player and still played better in the 2nd half. ISU didn't after losing their DL to a lower leg injury.

How about the converted safety Action Jackson with the wrong number?
