2 mins decided this game.

They just had better big plays. The fumble for a TD the 45 yard QB scramble, the almost safety, and the punt return for 50 yards were huge.

Yet Iowa fielded a kick-off going out of bounds at their one, drove 97 yards, etc... big play after big play throughout the game.

By now you should recognized CPR Ball and its influence on creating talent issues.

Iowa looks like a bunch of well-schooled, disciplined, overachievers that played very hard today. We played incompetent CPR Ball

Let's not forget all of the injuries Iowa had today. They were missing their 2 best receiving TE's (Duzey and Kittle although Kittle played like 3 snaps) and 2 of their power backs (Daniels(only played a quarter and a half) and Mitchell). Plus Ott only played a quarter and they has a RS FR play the rest of the time. Both teams are actually better than I thought. Our Defense is built to stop Big-12 offenses and hopefully our young RB's will get better so we can get some balance on offense. Hopefully Tucker is okay.

I agree. The fact they had less talent than ISU was a surprising amount. Can only imagine what Iowa's staff would do with CPR's roster.
That walkon WR for Iowa was clutch though. How many former walkons start for Iowa? Those natives getting up to beat ISU was huge.

Vandeberg is not a walk-on

the only walk-on was #52 the starting LT

ISU has decent WRs, especially Lazard but lacks depth on both interior lines and LBs. Iowa lost their best defensive player and still played better in the 2nd half. ISU didn't after losing their DL to a lower leg injury.

How about points then? Underrated too?

Yards are a good supporting statistic. 500 yards and 31 points is bad defense. 31 points and 300 yards with a couple defensive scores is a different effort.
The last 7 don't count. The game was over after Richardson's pick.

And our defense gave up that first TD of the third quarter, forced a 3-and-out, forced another punt, forced a turnover, and our offense did nothing with it. Our defense was great today. A few big plays and a lack of offense killed us.

So because he was "originally recruited" that way that makes him a walkon, not what actually happened? Ok...

Iowa wanted him as a walk-on, and he agreed to join the program as such until a scholly opened up at the last minute.

Arguing with someone that wants to refer to him as a "walk-on" is pretty dumb.

Do you not understand the concept of a grey shirt? Plus he had a scholarship that fall

By pure luck, not because the coaches wanted to give him one.

It's like saying that Boone Myers isn't a walk-on because he has a scholarship now. It's disingenuous and shows a lack of understanding of the recruiting process.

Grey shirting is not walking on. Speaking of not understanding the recruiting process.

I'll just leave this stat (that I've left a few other places)... ISU held the ball for 4 minutes and 5 seconds of the 4th quarter... That Defense was gassed.
